Somehow I got a commercial product labeled as Open Source.  LOL  This Gaim thingy beats the pants off of MSN and Yahoo!!  (They are the only 2 that I use.)  WOW!  What a product! Amazing, fantastic, wonderful.  I hate having both MSN and Yahoo active at the same time and prefer Yahoo so MSN only gets used when someone lets me know ahead that they will be there. NOW I have the best of both worlds and even the best of a third world with the nifty features only in Gaim! I LOVE the info winodws. Quick, sleek.  You guys thought of just about everything.  I would say everything but then there would not be any new releases.  I'm getting on your mailing list now.

Thank you for such a GREAT product.

    Mike

    Congrats to the developers.

Agreed. I switched to Gaim from Trillian, and will never go back. Open source, non-bloated, easier on RAM...straight to the point, yet full of USEFUL features :)

I quite agree :D though there are still some features that can be developed :D

The ones I've noted so far is:
      - Voice chat
      - Webcam

      - Package of files (for sending) on the fly (probably bz2 (I think it is called bZip) ,ZIP and RAR... or maybe just bz2 and rar)

      - Use of switching textlayout (I know I've used Messenger Plus too much :p )

      - Maybe the feature of premade messages like: "Blushes so I am being compared to christmas decorations" and stuff like that.

But those things are more fancy stuff that isn't really nessesary, but it would be nice :)

I'm trying to make a developing team for the Webcam and Voice chat abilities, so if anyone are interested in developing these features please mail me at KR-data@KR-data.dk

Sorry for my bad english, andthough is miss these features, I wouldn't ever consider to change back to either Windows or MSN. Gaim and Linux for ever :D

      Best regards
      Rohde

yes but thats the ONLY messenger that is installed on every PC in every internet-cafe world wide, so joke or not its vital to have

and in fact as text messenger and file transfer is not bad, as video and voice is a joke compared with other video and sip services, as well the most expensive voice to phone

      Couple of taughts:
I have switched from Miranda (bugs, bugs!) and found Gaim really usefull. It does the stuff the way it should be done. Gaim is not bloated clean and nice to use. You want voice chat: msn maby yahoo (btw up to now yahoo suck with voice). Go ahead (they msn yahoo sux by the way). If you want voice go CQPhone or better PicoPhone <- this bastard is p2p no server and has the best voice quality i have seen is only 64kb!!!. You want video chat? Go Eyeball or CQPhone. Each network is good for something (except for msn which is good for nothing it sux). There are clients specialized in video streaming or voice streaming (or malware streaming - skype) leave it to them. Gaim is good (the best) for text and i hope it will stay like that.
