pure command-line client for one-way message?

Hi,

I would like to be able to send a one-way message to a group of buddies via a
command-line tool.

Is there a way to do that?

If not, can someone point me to some library documentation so I can write my own tool?

You can use purple-send to do this sort of thing. Look at the script, the examples it lists, and the API documentation.
