I wonder if anyone is making the same observation: When you set your status to 'away' or similar, you can set a message that other users can see when they hold their mousepointer over their contact list entry. Now, if two users are both using gaim, this works fine. If both have ICQ5, dito.
Custom Away messages from ICQ can be read by gaim, though the encoding isn't always correct (e.g. german umlaute). In the other direction, it doesn't work at all.

I've got the same problems - ICQ 5 users can't see my away message and the German umlauts in their messages are broken. Any solution for this? It would be cool if it could be fixed before 2.0.0.
