Your nickname is not changing it is a display issue only, and it has been fixed in the code, you can set a local alias for the time being or just ignore it and wait for the next release.

I login (most contacts under .net messenger service) and presumably wan to chat with someone. The bad surprise is when I have just submitted something that I have the nick of someone else's nick of whoever happens to be online. The other person also sees this, AFAIK.

Always when a contact in my list conbect, my nickname change for all accounts.
Example
if my nick in xxx@hotmail.com is "xxx", and who named "tarzan" connect, my nick change to "tarzan"
if my ninck in xxx@gmail.com is "xxx", and who named "tarzan in gtalk" connect my nick change to "tarzan in gtalk"

But my contacts can see the nick, so, ins't a local nick or a display issue.
