How to achieve strongest encryption?

I was wondering about how to achieve strongest encryption with PE. I don't know that much about it but from what I gather key length in bits is one aspect, and the other is the encryption algorithm. I use 4096 bit keys but are they really that strong, does the algorithm support such long keys? And what algorithm does PE use?
