Hello,
I usually leave offline messages to my frieds, and
since I always have encryption enabled, the message
sent is encrypted.
The problem is that the user that receives them is
unable to read them (I think because it has no means to
exchange new keys), so that is potentially a problem
(I'm think to have sent messages, but the are unreadable).

So what I suggest is to automoatically turn off
encryption when sending to an offline buddy. You can
halso have a requester informing on that, to be
disabled via config option.

Thanks for your great addiction to gaim,
Alex

Better yet: the key of the buddy should be cached so
encrypted messages can be sent offline.

When I get a chance, I'll take a look at how Gaim handles off-
line messages. Since I don't use any services that support
them, I'm not very familiar with how they work.

The problem with neuhaus' idea of cacheing the keys is that
there's no way to tell if someone replays an encrypted
message if there is no on-line communication.

If both are online and you talk encrypted everything is fine, but if one goes offline, all following offline-messages are lost!

you'll get no error message! (thats the real problem)
