I tried regenerating a 4096 bit key with Gaim 0.78 and
Gaim-Encryption 2.26, and it hung the cpu at 100% and
froze the application. This is on a fully patched
Mandrake 9.2 system with both Gaim and the plugin
compiled from source. It works correctly otherwise.

Generating a 4096 bit key on my 2 GHz machine took about 3
minutes. It is non-deterministic, so sometimes it will go
fast, sometimes it can take quite a while. The application
will hang while the key is generated.

Make sure to move your mouse around once in a while- if you
run out of entropy, that's the fastest way to generate some
    more.

The key generation dialog should say: "Generating RSA Key
Pair for <your name>, this may take a little bit.", but for
some reason, GTK doesn't always display that text.

My bad, it went quicker when moving the mouse the entire
time on my P4 3GHz. I then realized how slow it is to send
messages with a 4096 bit key and went back to 1024, but it
does work. The Status window does pop up, but it doesn't
show anything inside it for me.
