Enabling Pidgin-Encryption causes Pidgin to crash on exit

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 with the latest version of pidgin (2.0.2). I installed the pidgin-encryption plugin and when I go to exit the program, Windows responds with a crash. Disabling the plugin and making no other changes fixes this. This has been previously reported on the pidgin website at the following links:

This bug still exists as of Pidgin 2.3.1 / Pidgin-Encryption 3.0, it happens every time, and I can also attest to the fact that it only happens with this plugin loaded.
I am having this crash in Pidgin 2.5.5 / Pidgin-Encryption 3.0. Like djmorse said, it happens every exit with the plugin enabled and not at all when its disabled. This is on Windows XP Pro SP3. A co-worker who also uses the plugin on his Linux system does not have this problem, so it may be Windows-specific.
I'm running Pidgin 2.5.8 / Encryption 3.0 under WinXP and it runs beautifully. A friend and I tried it last night; he installed Pidgin 2.5.8 / Encryption 3.0 under Vista. We communicated for nearly an hour both encrypted and unencrypted and were delighted. Then he enable the Psychic plug-in and Pidgin crashed on his machine. He disabled psychic but from then on Pidgin crashes as soon as encryption is enabled. He even tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Pidgin and encryption to no avail.
