Hi folks, due to the continuously increasing number of spam mails I'll close the mailing lists for the Pi3Web project today. Although the spam filters at sf.net work good about 10 or 20% of spam comes through. I almost daily reject subscribers who sent spam to the lists but it seems to become more from day to day. Sorry for any circumstances to these people, who are really interested in this project. You are invited to use the public forum at sf.net for discussions about the Pi3Web server and related topics. -- Kind regards, Holger |

There's a PHP5 handler module for Pi3Web on Win32 available now. It has been sketchy tested with PHP 5.0.2 and Pi3Web 2.0.3. This PHP5 handler should also work with older versions of Pi3Web. See the README file inside of the downloadable archive for more details and installation instructions: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pi3web/PHP5Pi3Web.zip?download Any feedback is appreciated. Should PHP5 become the new default PHP interpreter in the next Pi3Web release? Should PHP4 still be supported 'out of the box'? Should php5ts.dll (3.400kB) be part of future binary distributions of Pi3Web? -- Greetings, Holger Zimmermann |

http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/support/howto/Admin_Config.html This document has been written for users, who want to deeply understand the concepts and details of the configuration of the Pi3Web Server. Moreover, reading it will improve the understanding of how the Pi3Web Server works internally. It will help users performing advanced administration tasks (such as configuring a secure remote administration connection) and to prepare decisions about security or performance relevant topics. But it isn't necessary to read it in order to be able to use the administration GUI of the Pi3Web Server. BTW.: Any help related to the Pi3Web online documentation is appreciated. Don't hesitate to contact me, if you have some good ideas how to contribute to the Pi3Web project. -- kind regards, Holger |

The Pi3CA has been published as part of the Pi3Web website: http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/pi3ca/. This Certification Authority (CA) delivers both user certificates for web browsers and server certificates for SSL web servers solely for testing and demonstration purposes to support the SSL functionality of the Pi3Web server. You can also revoke a certificate issued by this CA. You can download the CA root certificate (MD5 Fingerprint C5:8B:7E:D4:5B:CA:C5:44:2B:48:34:E4:3C:30:6A:0F) and the current Certificate Revocation List (CRL). Scripts for generation of SSL server keys and Certificate Signing Requests (CSR) based on OpenSSL (www.openssl.org) are additionally available for download including the OpenSSL 0.96d Win32 binaries. You are asked to read the policy of the CA before using it. Hi, the following are the release notes for Pi3Web 2.0.2. I plan to issue the final release within the next 2 weeks and want to encourage you to participate in testing the available beta version. The Win32 binaries can be downloaded from here: http://belnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/pi3web/Pi3Web-x86Win32-2_0_2-beta2.exe -- regards Holger Release Notes for Pi3Web 2.0.2 05/2003 ====================================== This minor release contains some bugfixes as well as useful functional features and improvements of the administration GUI. Notice the changed license from 'Original BSD' to 'Modified BSD' license, i.e. removal of the advertising clause. Features/Changes ---------------- - PHP4Wrapper updated to PHP 4.3.2 - improvement of the wrapper code provides interoperability with the prebuilt binaries from php.net - SSL module updated to openssl 0.9.7a - Removed remaining global variables in SSL code - Added passphrase dialog for SSL private key - Added new server class for thread reusage and multithreaded accept handling, i.e. server can accept connections from multiple interfaces in parallel. Please note, that this feature is still experimental and has to be switched on explicite on the 'Performance' property page in order to enable: - operation of HTTP and HTTPS(SSL) server in parallel - bind server to multiple addresses and/or ports - v-hosts based on different interfaces and/or ports - remote administration on separate interface and/or port - Added redirection handling to PathMapper - Some improvements in the build environment - Supported HTTP messages are now checked for all non-CGI applications (POST must enabled explicite e.g. for PHP). Administration GUI related (Win32 only) --------------------------------------- - Added generation of SSL demo certificates, removed CA certificate file and flags from SSL defaults for 'SSL' property page - Added configuration for redirection handling to 'Mappings' property page - Added property page 'Interfaces' for management of supplementary I/O. Bugfixes -------- - Fixed 'Pi3Web 2.0.2 beta 1 crashes with malformed request' - Fixed 'Last PHP POST variable can contain garbage characters' - Fixed 'Path with superfluous trailing slash is accepted' - Fixed 'OPTIONS and TRACE doesn't work with generated Config.pi3' - Fixed 'Problem related to URL's pointing to subfolders of WebRoot' - Fixed 'Pi3Web doesn't bind with 0.0.0.0' - Fixed 'Server crashes on empty directory index' - Fixed 'sending of empty (deleted) HTTP entity headers' - Fixed some documentation bugs |

Hi Patrick, This is not a problem, since case-sensitivity of the URI-path is configurable. for details please refer to the answer to the related bug report: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=631592&group_id=17753&atid=117753 Furthermore the file system is case sensitive (i.e. theFile.htm and Thefile.htm are both valid, different filenames) for many platforms and Pi3Web is multi-platform. -- kind regards Holger TMTOWTDI - There's More Than One Way To Do It - Perl motto ---------------------------------------------------------- Holger 'zimpel' Zimmermann ---------------------------------------------------------- Wendishain Germany ---------------------------------------------------------- http://home.t-online.de/home/zimpel/ http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/ mailto:zi...@t-... ---------------------------------------------------------- Patrick Paquet wrote: > My physical path is Image\ and my virtual path is /Image/ > > When a user uses an url like http://mydomain/image/ the serveur doesn't reconise the /image/ because the name "image" begin whit a lowercase.... > > The probleme is the same if a lowercase or an uppercase not match the vitual path or physical path any where in the url.... > > suggest: > You have to convert all the url, physical and virtual path in a lowercase to match de string request. > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by: Influence the future > of Java(TM) technology. My physical path is Image\ and my virtual path is /Image/ When a user uses an url like http://mydomain/image/ the serveur doesn't re= conise the /image/ because the name "image" begin whit a lowercase=2E=2E=2E= =2E The probleme is the same if a lowercase or an uppercase not match the vitu= al path or physical path any where in the url=2E=2E=2E=2E suggest: You have to convert all the url, physical and virtual path in a lowercase = to match de string request=2E |

Hello, maybe you already became aware of the Pi3XSLT development, an embedded XSLT engine for 'on the fly' stylesheet transformations based on libxslt and libxml2 (http://xmlsoft.org). I updated the preview release today. The main features are: - supported input markup is XML, HTML or docbook SGML - HTTP request variables are available as global stylesheet parameters - supports POST requests by converting form data into generic XML markup - supports embedded stylesheet syntax - access control for external net and file entities - widely configurable Please don't hestitate to send me comments, bug reports or enhancements. -- regards Holger TMTOWTDI - There's More Than One Way To Do It - Perl motto ---------------------------------------------------------- Holger 'zimpel' Zimmermann ---------------------------------------------------------- Wendishain Germany ---------------------------------------------------------- http://home.t-online.de/home/zimpel/ http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/ mailto:zi...@t-... ---------------------------------------------------------- |

Hi all, I wanted to ask you, if there's somebody, who wants to help me to bring out the final 2.00 release? I need some testing support primarily on Windows and Linux. I could prepare a Windows package immediately and a Linux package until end of this week. The current release notes of the 2.00 release candidate are: Release Notes for Pi3Web 2.0.0r 02/2002 ======================================= This major release contains all features and bugfixes as described for the beta versions. The diff to the beta 2 is: - ISAPI and ISAPIFLT handler have dynamic configurable server variables now - ISAPIFLT forces system logon on Windows NT/2000/XP - Fixed ASP configuration, to run ASP also from "#exec virtual" SSI directives - Directory index can optional tag files newer than a threshold date, e.g. by an <IMG src="/icons/new.gif"> tag - Fixed a bug with chunked transfer-encoding, which resulted strange behaviour with SSI in HTTP/1.1. - Revised the WinCGI handler completely - configuration parameters "EnvironmentSize" and "IncludeParentsEnvironment" were removed, most sections are supported now, remaining incompatibilities are unsupported SELECT MULTIPLE form fields and the [Form File] section - Completed API documentation - Problem with malicious requests in CGI handler on Windows fixed - Fixed a bug in the IOBuffer, which prevented PIIOBuffer_getLine() from reading lines into buffer longer than the input buffer - FCGI handler does process large response from FCGI applications now - PHP4 issue with header() function and redirects solved - Server port is now reported correctly to logic handlers, changed configuration variable "LocalPortVariable STRING:ServerPort" into "ServerPortVariable RFC822:ServerPort" -- Thanks in advance Holger TMTOWTDI - There's More Than One Way To Do It - Perl motto ---------------------------------------------------------- Holger 'zimpel' Zimmermann ---------------------------------------------------------- Wendishain Germany ---------------------------------------------------------- http://home.t-online.de/home/zimpel/ http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/ mailto:zi...@t-... ---------------------------------------------------------- |

Hi all, I tried to figure out this issue, which was originally reported in the bugtraq mailing list http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/250126 a few days ago and found out the following: There's really a problem with Pi3Web 2.0 CGI handler for physical paths, which are exactly MAX_PATH (260) bytes long and end with illegal (series of) dot(s). The problem does exist due to a specific behaviour of the Windows API, which isn't handled correctly and will crash the server reproducible. - The problem is limited to Pi3Web 2.0 on Win32 only. - Linux and Solaris aren't affected. - Older versions of Pi3Web aren't affected. - Configurations without CGI aren't affected. The problem could be reproduced by using the url from the attached file in your browser. May be you vary the number of dots a bit (increase and/or decrease) to see what happens. A patch fixing the problem is available at sourceforge from now: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=505583&group_id=17753&atid=317753 This .ZIP file contains 2 DLL's which must be replaced in Pi3Web/bin. Don't forget to stop Pi3Web before you apply the patch and restart the server afterwards. A configuration based workaround is also possible by addition of the following line in object Scripts, e.g. in Pi3Web/Conf/Config.pi3: <Object> Name Scripts Class FlexibleHandlerClass Condition "&cmp(&dblookup(response, string,ObjectMap),Scripts)" # line added to check for script names ending on '.' CheckPath Condition="®exp(*.,$z)" StatusCode StatusCode="404" ... Please report, if the problem could be reproduced before you applied the patch and if it was safely solved afterwards. Only if interested - look into the details: The Windows API does accept filenames ending on (series of) '.' in functions like FindExecutable() or FindFirstFile(). If the path name is longer than MAX_PATH, an error will be raised anyway. The problem arised due to bypassing the check for file existance, which uses FindFirstFile() and the subsequent behaviour when trying to resolve a file association using FindExecutable() in the CGI handler. -- regards Holger TMTOWTDI - There's More Than One Way To Do It - Perl motto ---------------------------------------------------------- Holger 'zimpel' Zimmermann ---------------------------------------------------------- Wendishain Germany ---------------------------------------------------------- http://home.t-online.de/home/zimpel/ http://pi3web.sourceforge.net/ mailto:zi...@t-... ---------------------------------------------------------- Bradford Bruce schrieb: > > http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/vulnwatch/2002-q1/0015.html > > _______________________________________________ > Pi3web-users mailing list > Pi3...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/pi3web-users |
