[phpXML] parsing large files -- memory ?

I apologize if this may have been asked before, but since
there are no list archives available....

My parsing routine is now working fine.  However, with large
XML files (3MB for example) it runs out of memory.  Is there
any way around this?  I realize I could add more memory but is
there any programmatic solution?

: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35
bytes) in
