I believe there is a strong feeling for the opposite. Since Michael seems
quite busy this time, it's always nice to have updates. And I don't believe
it's a fork, since no work is being done to the original project. You seem
to me much more like the current temporary maintainer of the project. I say
keep up the good work (since there hasn't been any opposition from Michael
himself).
