xwidget delayed...
new dtx release instead
xwidget development now back to full speed.
php xml db tools is almost ready to release the next version of xwidget.
if you're using xwidget now, don't get too far into it as the xml file structure is changing, but don't worry, it's for the best.

January 20, 2002:
php xml tools released version 0.2 of its xwidget tool today.
This version should now be considered the most stable.
dtx 1.0 reads a configuration xml file and displays form widgets from it.
this tool will eventually integerate into the overall php xml db tools system to create a RAD approach to application design with php.

php xml tools released version 1.0 of its dtx (database to xml) tool today.
Version 1.0 is now considered the most stable, and most extendable version available.
dtx 1.0 reads a database structure directly from a database server and generates an xml schema automatically. When used with xto (xml db schema to object), a database can be configured, updated, and managed using the xml property sheet and php.... read more

php xml tools released version 0.1 of its xwidget (xml widget definitions) tool today.
Version 0.1 is the initial release, and will change considerably over the next few weeks. Download it now, and experiment with it and give up feedback, or better yet, make some changes and submit them back to the project!

xto (xml to object)version 0.1 reads xml data schemas and creates an object structure from it.

mxs becomes dtx
because I have made mxs be more db independent, the name of mxs has changed to dtx (database to xml)
also, an interface has been created, allowing for automated creation of xml files directly from a web interface.
I have a working version of part of the php xml db tools. I will be posting it online probably tomorrow (1-4-2002) or very soon after. If you wish to help out on the project, feel free to email me with your request. The project is fairly small, but could grow large, and become a comprehensive site creation system thingy with some work. This is my goal, but if it doesn't get there, then I can say, "well, there you have it... it was called php xml db tools after all."... read more
