      Spiggy:

With your talent, would you consider, instead of working on the "forum" I've seen some use, work instead to effect a login to phpBB2 via the phpWebsite login?

phpBB is about as good as it comes relative to open source (or closed source) forums.  It has a very strong development community.

It would seem to make more sense to me for a CMS/Portal system such as phpWebsite to FOCUS on making use of the talent and development groups in the more developed applications such as phpBB and OSCommerce, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel.

PLEASE consider using your talents and at least take a look at this issue.

Not being a guru, it would seem to me that code could be placed in the phpWebsite login which would send the needed login parameters to various applications such as phpBB2, OSCommerce and phpYellow.  I'm not sure whether there would be session management issues due to my limited knowledge.  However, if there aren't session managment issues, I would think this possible.  For example, there is already code written for phpBB2 which allows one to place the phpBB2 login on any page on his/her site.  Couldn't that the phpWebsite login code be changed such as follows:

      Giving the following "input" parameters:
      $username
      $email
      $password

and having those parameters "post" to the various application logins?

I think the CMS/Portal which solves this issue will dominate in the open source community.

THANK YOU for the work on the Weather Module.  It is WONDERFUL!

      Joel

Yep, just saw that today and was about to reference you to the thread.  Based on what I've seen so far, you, Ric, George Brackett and Tal are about the most talented I've seen ACTIVELY working on mods for phpWebsite.

I'm not much of a guru with the programing, although I am learning more each day, but, I will be happy to assist you folks in any way I can in testing or ideas.

I've emailed Ric to see about taking a look at the code and testing on the Coastal Outdoors site.

      Thanks for all your efforts.

I would really like to see a port or bridge of log-ins for YabbSE.  It is an awesome Bulletin Board/Forum system that has been around for awhile and it is in active development with its own modules coming out quickly.  Very good support too.  No-one in their development community has heard of PHPWebsite or is not interested in integration.  I asked for months..they are Nuke and PostNuke junkies.  I have my YABB as a standalone product with a link from the menu...but users have to have two different accounts (one for Yabb and one for PWS) which really irritates people.

Hopefully someone will try this, working with their developers.

The URL is: www.yabb.info.  Please consider this!

      Derek
