Will there be an instant  message developed anytime soon for phpWebsite?

It's like the one I saw in http://www.maxwebportal.com/ where registered users can actually post mesages to another registered user via the portal.

I'd love to give a helping hand if anyone's going to work on that though I am not a full-flege programmer, just a programmer by profession, but I'd like to give it a try...IF...someone's going to start coding it...

Will it be compatible with the 8.2 and 8.3 versions of phpWebsite as well?

      Thank you,

Btw, phpWebsite ver. 0.9.0 is the release that is based on fallout, is it?

      Yes, version .0.9.0 is Fallout.

As for making it compatible with older releases, I'm not sure. We are getting closer to release of .0.9.0 and people are going to be clamoring for new modules for it. I think it has a higher priority at the moment.

The developers have stated that this version of phpWS should finalize most of the module API, so we shouldn't have to keep updating our modules for new versions of phpWS.

When and if I release the IM module, it will most probably be for .90 first.

I would like to see it for previous versions too.  Updating modified code can be a real pain and just for a chat room...

How about a shoutbox? I picked up a shoutbox module and it is supposed to be able to be used on almost any php type portal. He he! The directions are to use it in an iframe. It looks pretty simple but it does not work to put it into a left or right block. Does anyone what to help me make it into a module that works? I haven't made a module before and I'm really chicken to do one on my own. Just learning php.

      Thanks,
      Marie Alline

I've got a shoutbox in my plans as well. Bunch of ideas on a big ol' notebook just ready for me to find the time to do :)

I have a shoutbox impletmented on my site and it works great. I just made a left block and called it in an iframe. You can make it almost any block actually and you can size it the way you want it. Pretty cool. Not much to it.
