I followed the instructions to install the newsletter module - I have phpws 8.2 - and it installed OK. It wasn't exactly what I wanted so I followed the instructions to uninstall. Then I deleted the subdirectory 'newsletter' from the mod directory as in the instructions.
Now when I click on install/uninstall modules in the admin it takes about a minute or more and returns a blank page.
How can I fix this?
Ray

Plus now all announcements are showing up on the main page. What is happening?
It was all fine before I installed the newsletter.

And it is going very very slow. The No of announcements on the front page are not the problem, it is the module installer. Help!

news letter installer is not the reason for your problems (at least i dont think so). if you uninstalled it (and it took out the modules table entry), its gone. as far as i know the installer does not modify any core files.
so, the reason for slow module installer is probably a directory in mod without an index.php file. make sure every directory has an index.php file, create an empty one if nothing else.

Thank you Spiggy. You are a goddess.
It must be old age, but I installed netpbm (for gallery) in the modules directory - a nice fat directory of executable stuff that phpwebsite got indigestion from.
I've moved it now, and all is OK but I will check for index files anyway.
It wasn't newsletter, it just got in the line of fire....
As I said, a goddess.......
