Firstly, thanks for the cool programme :) I've used PHPNuke, but is kinda complex - this is cool :)

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how I can make it so announcements can be posted by any registered user without having to have them previewed by and admin.

    Thanks

Are you sure you want to do that?  Think a moment: announcements are upfront items, visible on the home page, not buried somewhere (like the contributions to a forum, for example).  If you don't catch 'em, there may well be unpleasant messages posted in very visible form on your site if you were to allow this kind of access.  Restricting the access to registered users doesn't protect you, either, since it's easy for a registered user to conceal her/his identity.

The only ppl visiting the site are a group of mates who want to keep in touch from where ever in the world.

It's just that it could take up to a week till the next login so the messages wont be visible.

If possible, I'd relly like this to be the way that it works.... is it possible ?

Well, if it's your mates, I would give them each an administrator login and let them add their announcements that way.  That's easiest.  Then there's a Manager module available that lets you allow access to specific functions by designated registered users.  I haven't used it yet because it fiddles with core phpWS files, but you might find it useful.  Finally the Manager-type permissions are going to be built in, so I hear, in release 0.9, coming out this fall.

A new version of Manager is available at http://www.adc2001.com/Downloads/manager_0.8.1-1.0.1-with_table_prefix_support.zip

Good points, George. But another option is to use Forum. The five (or more) most recent posts subjects can be shown in a block on the main page, plus regular users can post and view messages, without security risks.

You can get Forum at http://www.chula-rural.net/mod.php?mod=downloads&op=getit&lid=11
