Just a couple quick comments... 1) very general - with phpws 1.x heading towards support for different databases, I believe there could be problems with the length of some table names in the future - might be good to prepare for that now 2) products table - in regards to taxes, I don't think just a taxable yes/no flag will be enough - as a Canadian, I have to deal with some very complex tax scenarios. Many carts I've looked at just aren't up to the task. One that is (though it can be complex to set-up the first time) is zen-cart - http://www.zen-cart.com zencart uses a combination of tax zones, tax classes, and tax rates to determine the tax implications of any purchase. For instance, I might have a product which is a book which uses the special tax class for books, which depending on the zone that the shipping address falls into may be charged a tax rate for GST or a different tax rate for HST. Another product which is a widget uses the tax class for general taxable merchandise, which depending on the zone that the shipping address falls into may be charged a combined tax rate for PST and GST, or a single HST tax rate. This post on the zen-cart forums is a tutorial for setting up such complex scenarios in zen-cart, that might provide some food for thought. http://www.zen-cart.com/modules/ipb/index.php? showtopic=6344&st=0&#entry38336 Regards, verdon On 22-Feb-06, at 12:18 PM, Ken Nordquist wrote: > Ok guys... here is the link to the beta db for phpwscommerce. Cools. Sorry I haven't been of much help in the coding department. Trying to close a lot of open loops on other projects (i.e. get them to a "released" state) and then come back to my phpWS projects. Coincidentally I'm meeting with some folks tomorrow who I wrote a small shop site phpws mod for (see http://www.windowhawk.com). I'd like to make up for my crappy site by moving them to phpwsCommerce when it's ready. They only have one product. I'm sure they'd love to be listed on a "Sites using phpwsCommerce" page as well. Ok guys... here is the link to the beta db for phpwscommerce. I included foreign key constraints which will help protect unintended changes and deletions of records... I am picking up where Wendall left off on the products class... I should be able to kick it out by Monday for everyone's perusal. Feedback on the db stuff is welcome and solicited. Ken |

Hey Guys, I am working for a software subsidiary of Earthlink and last week got the go-ahead to use phpWebsite as our CMS. I have a target live date of getting the new site up and running as March 1, 2005. A key component to the success of this is phpwscommerce. We have a shopping cart up and running now, but it lacks security features and is semi-class based... We started with great fanfare in September but little has happened since then. I would really like to get this rolling and have a decent beta up by mid-January. I can house Subversion on my server if that is an issue. I am outlining our specific needs for phpwscommerce and will start hacking this week... And we all know hacking for me is literal and not figurative! ;-) Seriously, what needs to be done to get this thing up and running?! Regards, Ken |

I've been using that. Very nice, minimal and quick. Works well with Apple's FileMerge and uses an OSX column view to navigate files. Only problem I had was you first have to check out on the command line to approve Wendall's certificate. Ok, My server has had a rootkit installed on it since 08/08. Looks like someone utilized the xml-rpc exploit in apache. I am rebuilding the server over the weekend, so wiki/homepage and SVN will be unavailable til Monday. I will be generating new DAV passwords for everyone. Stay tuned in for details. Wendall |

Hello everyone. I just put together some ideas in SVN and the Dev Wiki for the development of this module. I've been chatting with Matt a bit on best ways for us to migrate to Fallout and have shown some of those methods here. I want you guys to look over Manager.php and think about an AJAX enabled List Object. Something like pagerdb on steroids. :) Anyhow, feel free to be critical of what I've done. I think I explain my reasoning on the wiki fairly well. You can add comments to the doc, or ask in #phpwscommerce on freenode. http://phpwscommerce.phpwebsiteforge.com/proj/wiki/ModStructure Wendall |

Everyone here probably knows that the sf.net permissions system is crap. I made everyone tech/admins for everything. If I missed somehthing for someone and you can't do something, just let me know. It wasn't because I was trying to keep you from doing it. If it needs doing, just do so. Makes life easier, and I trust everyone in this group. If we bring on more people that are unfamiliar, as developers or testers, I don't think I'll just set them up with admin access to everything. This has been bad for us in a couple situations in the past. Don't worry about commiting fugly code, so long as it's well commented. I'll write up a doc for how the comments need to be constructed, since I want to use some auto-documentation tools for the code base. I'll speak for Don, since I've worked with him for quite some time now. But neither he nor I get offended if something we wrote or did could be implemented better and you change it. Please always feel free to fix stuff that needs fixing. Just comment well and communicate on the changes you are making. I think everyone is this group pretty much leaves the ego at home, and this will be a good thing for getting things up and running in a reasonable amount of time. We will be adopting the same coding practices lined out on the app state site. Basically follows the same standards as used for PEAR. We'll get this added to the wiki. I think everyone here is familiar with these. I'll put up a copy of the module developer best practices doc that Matt wrote for Fallout as well. We'll be doing some things a bit different to help migration to Fallout. Especially in the area of database design. We're not going to use any "mysql" specific syntax for example. The more databases supported the better. MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle are probably ones we'll want to cover initially. Pretty much everything that the PEAR::DB will deal with for now. Just one last thing. Verdon Vaillancourt is the latest addition to the team. Welcome aboard everyone. Wendall |

Ok, your login to the wiki will be the same as your SVN login. I'll be using SSL and DAV for security. You will need to use the following lines to co from the SVN repository. svn co --username user https://phpwscommerce.phpwebsiteforge.com:9035/svn/phpwscommerce/ At this point it will prompt to accept or reject the ssl cert and prompt for your password. I'll get username/password pairs sent out asap to everyone. All will have commit access initially. This is a good group and I don't forsee any issues with this. Please communicate well with others before making commits on stuff not specifically assigned to you. Wendall |
