Found the really simple solution myself:
I've installed a fresh version of PHP and the register_globals was defaulted to
"OFF". I switched it "ON" and voila.
But The system is not really stable, sometimes the PHP crashes with ""access
violation".
I've two other sites running (Solaris/MySQL) with no problems (no publically
accessible sites, sorry)

I've installed phpwiki 1.2.2 on MS IIS 4 and NT4, both with simple files and
with MSSQL 7 backend.
I'm running php 4.2.1 as cgi.
I'm able to start the wiki with "http://192.168.3.33/phpwiki/index.php" and I
see the front page.
When I click on a link the browser tries to open the page (e.g.)
"http://192.168.3.33/phpwiki/index.php?WikiWikiWeb"
but it displays the front page. It seems that the information after the "?" is
not evaluated.
any hints?
