The logic to display this message was wrong. I fixed that yesterday.
It displayed "Password cannot be changed" even it was already changed
with DBAUTH_AUTH_UPDATE or DBAUTH_PREF_UPDATE.
The whole db pref handling was broken.

That depends on how you did configure AUTH and PREFS.
With db prefs it is not stored in the users homepage, but with the
DBAUTH_PREF_UPDATE statement instead.
With db auth and DBAUTH_AUTH_UPDATE defined, it is not stored in the
prefs table, but with the DBAUTH_AUTH_UPDATE statement instead.
