Hello again, Are there any of the original phpwiki developers still on this list ? It would be interesting to hear from them in order to better understand the status of the project and where they see it going within the next months. Thank you for your time and insights |

Been there, done that (contacted wainstead via his @sourceforge email), zilch reply. We all try again for another week, (maybe he/she's on holidays? ) and then, if we get no reply, we fork. I don't particularly like spawns projects all over the place, but we do need to keep working on the code. I'll contact a couple of people from the ones that have commited code to see what's going on. Hi All, I'm still catching up on the PhpWiki mailing list from the last few months so bear with me. I will look at the current submitted patches over the upcoming week. Fortunately I have more time now (and some new recent inspiration (: ) to work on PhpWiki, and there are a few people who will be helping me to update the German localizations. I haven't been in contact with the other developers for a while so I can't say anything about their personal schedules at the moment. I hope to clean up a few items to get ready for a 1.3.5 release, but I don't know yet whether I can do actual SourceForge file releases without Steve Wainstead (who usually handles it). Anyway, I'll commit whatever updates I can to CVS so at least they will be more readily available to everyone. (The project manager Steve Wainstead must be away on vacation, he is probably somewhere diving underwater or whatnot.) :) Cheers, Carsten On Sunday, October 19, 2003, at 07:34 pm, Norberto Meijome wrote: > Been there, done that (contacted wainstead via his @sourceforge > email), zilch reply. > > We all try again for another week, (maybe he/she's on holidays? ) and > then, if we get no reply, we fork. I'm in. I've even kept a feature list (and a name suggestion) from the days when I thought I might have time to do my own wiki with a colleague: http://the.taoofmac.com/space/LiveWiki (bit muddled, I know. I'll straighten it out) I have only one demand: Clean CSS-based themes from the outset, without those funky yellow tones. Heck, I'll code those :) Oh, and SQL-based uploaded file storage. :) R. http://the.taoofmac.com |

My web designer and I also wrote some "skins/themes" for phpwiki. The one on CraoWiki is quite old now ... but we have a new one running on http://autrans.crao.net/ and the next CraoWiki theme is on http://nwiki.crao.net/ for testing. After writing 6 different themes ... I just miss the good Smarty Template engine !! But well ... maybe it's not a priority :) I can (with a neutral logo) add them to the PhpWiki tree along with my RssFeed plugin. I also run some private wikis protected by the external http authentification. I wrote a little hack to get this external auth working with PhpWiki ... not perfect but works. I'm also working on the XmlRpc side to add remote page modification and creation. Oh ... btw, CraoWiki has more than 2800 pages, about 200 contributors (normal non geek ppl) and more than 26000 visits a month (more than 16000 visitors). So its a nice real life benchmark for PhpWiki :) Last time I tried to overload it using ab (with 100 concurrent users and 100 requests per users), it was able to deliver 7+ requests per second (no cache at all, MySQL and GDBM as backend on a dual PIII 1ghz and 1.5 GB of Ram). We need to dig into the code for some optimization ... 7 request per second is not much ... Well ... It time to move this great project ahead. --=20 Arnaud Fontaine Jabber: sh...@ra... ICQ: 3504789 |
