Thx for discussion; but I'm now using MySQL and it's working fine. Except
for admin login, but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.

Which error? Wwe had one flatfile ArchiveCleaner bug fixed about a year ago.

Although I am a PHP programmer I don't have loads of time to
try and debug this. I wondered if you could point me in the
right direction at least.
Also while I'm at it. We are using POP3 authentication, but
I have also set the admin user id and passsword in
config.ini. But I can't log in to use admin functions - get
invalid username / password. I have configured password
encryption off for now.
