Ok, let's start with the hard one first. ;) I've just setup 1.3.10 (who instances actually) and for some unknown reason, my password on the one got hosed and I'm unable to login. How do i reset a user's password when using PersonalPage as the USER_AUTH (i couldn't get File to work for some reason, although really, i should be using the DB, which i haven't tried yet.) the other questions is: how do i set the default system theme? thanks! so far i'm very happy with PHPWiki, this is a great piece of software!! -brian -- "Infinite monkeys at infinite emacs sessions have created the Posix apocalypse." -- Jonathan |

Dear Friend, As you read this, I don't want you to feel sorry for me because, I believe everyone will die someday. My name is SAZON FERNANDO a merchant philipines .I have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts. I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone(not even myself) but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends. I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul so, I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Algeria and Malaysia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have left for them. The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of eighteen million dollars $18,000.000 that I have with a finance/Security Firm abroad. I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatch it to charity organizations. I have set aside 20% for you for your time and patience. please send a reply through this email address with your full contact telephone/fax numbers for confidential verbal details. God be with you. I think I am experiencing a similar problem, but did not understand the solution described in this thread. I suspect PHP was upgraded by my hosting provider and now the wiki at wiki.boalt.org has A LOT of pear-related errors being spewed out at the bottom of every page. I backed up the database and decided to just upgrade to the latest version of phpwiki to see if that would fix it. I installed the new phpwiki at boalt.org/wikiwiki/ and the "virgin wiki" page spewed out a bunch of similar errors, mostly of the form: /usr/lib/php/DB/common.php:1295: Notice[8]: Only variable references should be returned by reference Now the pages on the new wiki all have similar errors. Can someone explain (using small words! --newbie alert!) how to fix this myself or what I need to tell my hosting provider to have them fix it. Thanks. Brian |

I just broke the postgresql backend in todays CVS version. I had the potgresql rewrite for more than one week now in my sandbox, together with the updated fulltext search update, the new semantic web feature and several other fixes. There's something wrong with the new ::TEXT quoting on INSERT, which I will fix later. oci8 and mssql will look similar then, when postgresql is ready. Maybe I'll make a special mysql 5 version also then. There's more pending in pgsrc/ -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.org/ |

Hi All, A quick question. Is it possible to specify space separated LDAP server strings in the config file, in case the first is down? I am using LDAP in our fully unix environment (still uses NIS+ for most authentication) with multiple LDAP servers available. Since I have only configured the wiki to auth of one, if it goes down, no access. Thanks |

Maybe it's the ones which *aren't* references which are the bugs? It's never going to be slower to return a reference than make a copy. In that case, we should have _connect() returning a reference for all of the DbSession backends, yes? If that accords with your intuition of how this should be, I'll do it later today (really only a 30-second job). -- J. |

I wonder if there are any postgresql users out there, which do not have tsearch2 available. (it's in the contrib folder) If no I would like to use tsearch2 on all postgresql fulltext searches per default. I use it for 7.4.5, 8.0 and 8.1, being 8.1 my default. I wonder if I should introduce another config option DISABLE_TSEARCH2, or if say that a decent postgres has tsearch2 enabled per default. It works fine on my dev machine, even for phrases. http://reini/wiki/pg/FindPage?action=FullTextSearch&s=%22browsing+and+editing%22 => FindPage * Help:MoreAboutMechanics of browsing and editing on this server. Hi Walter, I compiled dot on my own linux machine and copied it to the sf.net server. Two things: Be sure that the dependent so's match the ones you have at or host, (best not to rely on any .so, which is what I did on sf.net) and be sure to check the font paths, so that the default font will be picked up automatically. 2005/11/8, Walter Rafelsberger <wa...@ra...>: > I am working on a plugin for PhpWiki called Rhizome Navigation. Hi, I am working on a plugin for PhpWiki called Rhizome Navigation. It has similarities to VisualWiki but takes a different approach. The visual map is not created through analysation of actual links, however, it is based on user tracking and log analysis. This way it is possible to influence the weight, length and size of edges and nodes to emphasize certain areas of content (hopefully). Unfortunately my provider does not support dot. I saw that VisualWiki is not working on sf.net either. Reini, you wrote on the VisualWiki-Page "At least I compiled now a static binary of dot." What does that mean exactly? Is there a way to install dot on a web- server with ftp-access only? Does anyone know if dot works on berlios.de? If anyone's interested, Rhizome Navigation runs on my wiki at: http://www.metaportaldermedienpolemik.net/wiki/RhNav The SVG was created offline with the Mac OSX version of GraphViz. RhNav creates dynamically this dot file from a wiki access log: http://www.metaportaldermedienpolemik.net/rhnav-preforce/rhnav.dot.php What I want is to output this dot file on the fly as a SVG. For now I have downloaded this file and created the SVG locally for the above example. Please let me know if you had success running dot on your server or if there are any alternatives available. Kind regards, Walter |

And even if the user has a homepage, there seemingly is some data in other tables of DB: the problem I reported arises also if I sign in as user FooBar, create the FooBar homepage, change preferences (e.g. edit area size), delete the FooBar page. So we have some orphaned data in DB and no possibility to access/clean it. Therefore I asked for a viewer/admin tool for the non-SQL-databases. For maintenance/emergency this would be great. Is there no ready-to-use solution around to access these databases? Doesn't need to be as extensive as phpMyAdmin... > Things I had to workaround on database part are that when you get prefs, > you set temporary prefs for admin user. Hopfully not as bloated as phpMyAdmin. I didn't study that part of code, just had a look on it. Take a look at "pref" code in lib/WikiUserNew. I think: -> to delete users: delete their HomePage is enough, as prefs are stored in homepage metadata. -> to create users: create their home page, then update "prefs" password and user on that page -> to change password: get homepage, get prefs from hp, then change password in that prefs, then update prefs Things I had to workaround on database part are that when you get prefs, you set temporary prefs for admin user. See "user administration stuff" patch at sourceforge. -- Thomas Harding |

O.k., in the meantime I read about the reasons, it seems to be a deliberate policy based decision. I disagree with them <g>. IMHO nobody digs through hundreds of revisions. But they want to avoid problems with copyright etc. > phpwiki supports the most database backends from all wiki engines, yes, and I love this. Especially for "low budget" wikis that's essential. SQL is available only in more expensive hosting services, and flatfile isn't that efficient AFAIK. PHP + some db comes even with cheap hosting and is efficient. Not important, but do you have any numbers about the ratio wikitext <-> cache HTML storage? > mediawiki is some kind of very special software for a very special purpose. Ack. [Developers] > Read the mediawiki developers list and their meta wiki. that gives little information about their activity. Seems that I (Subversion user) have to install CVS in addition. > Brain is a paid employee by wikipedia and the only core developer. s/Brain/Brion/ > Quite similar to the phpwiki situation. > Recently they made a lot of enhancements in core. > They even added the DB hooks and new template engine, which I planed > for our 1.4.0 > It got better, but the architecture is still a big mess, compared to phpwiki. For the inexperienced, it looks much easier to install MediaWiki. But if something doesn't work as expected, it's IMO even harder (up to impossible) to find a solution. With a better documentation, things would be much easier. Maybe I can contribute a bit in this area. Oliver -- Oliver Betz, Muenchen |

With SQL, I can access/tweak all information "easily" with the ubiquitous phpMyAdmin. But with the other database backends (being IMO one of the big advantages of PhpWiki), I see no possibility to access the buried information. Maybe I missed a simple method - is there any database access tool for gdbm, db* etc? Hopfully not as bloated as phpMyAdmin. Oliver -- Oliver Betz, Muenchen |
