You've done nothing wrong --- other than uncover a bug. I think the fix is to change the the first two lines of lib/pgsql.php from: <!-- $Id: pgsql.php,v 1.4.2.2 2001/09/21 21:57:07 wainstead Exp $ --> <?php to: <?php rcs_id('$Id: pgsql.php,v 1.4.2.2 2001/09/21 21:57:07 wainstead Exp $'); (You could just omit the second ("rcs_id(...)") line.) (What's happening is that text output is starting with the first line of lib/pgsql.php (an html comment containing the rcs $Id$ string.) Later, admin.php is trying to set the HTTP status and a HTTP in order to request authentication login adn password. The problem is that once the body output has started, PHP can not go back and modify the headers it has sent.) Jeff |

I set up PhpWiki 1.2.1 to run on a Red Hat Linux 6.2 box with Apache 1.3.14, mod_php 4.0.6, and PostgreSQL 7.1.2. Installation and configuration were straightforward. Page viewing and editing works fine. As expected, visiting http://localhost/phpwiki/admin.php returns: Set the administrator account and password first. In admin.php, I changed $wikiadmin and $adminpasswd to non-empty strings and revisited http://localhost/phpwiki/admin.php. This time I got: Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/httpd/html/phpwiki-1.2.1/lib/pgsql.php:2) in /home/httpd/html/phpwiki-1.2.1/admin.php on line 24 Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/httpd/html/phpwiki-1.2.1/lib/pgsql.php:2) in /home/httpd/html/phpwiki-1.2.1/admin.php on line 25 You entered an invalid login or password. Further investigation left me none the wiser. Could someone please enlighten me as to what I've done wrong? Thanks, Roger |

Dba can include support for a number of other drivers --- 'db2' is the recommended alternative, but others may work, too. To find out for certain whether dba is supported and, if so, which drivers it supports you need to create a simple one-liner php script (named, say 'phpinfo.php') which looks like: <?php phpinfo(); ?> If you browse this script with your web-browser you, hopefully, will get a report detailing all kinds of information regarding the configuration of your PHP interpreter. See this message from the phpwiki-talk archives for more details: http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/4037/2001/3/50/5291011/ Jeff |

Hello! I've just downloaded and installed phpwiki, and I'm very enthusiastic=20 about getting it to work! As I haven't got access to MySQL yet (waiting=20 for the sysadmin to come online so I can ask him about my access!), I've=20 left the default configuration on (dba/dbm - I have php 4.0.6). the problem is that neither index.php nor admin.php show up in my=20 browser - if I view the source for index.php, this is what I see: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <!-- $Id: index.php,v 1.5 2000/11/08 15:34:06 ahollosi Exp $ --> <!-- $Id: config.php,v 1.24 2001/01/31 07:38:10 ahollosi Exp $ --> <!-- $Id: dbalib.php,v 1.2 2001/01/31 02:01:27 wainstead Exp $ --> <!-- $Id: stdlib.php,v 1.21 2001/01/15 12:32:57 ahollosi Exp $ --> I've read the README and INSTALL files and followed the instructions=20 best I can, but maybe I've missed something out? A day later than expected, but that's free software for you! Visit the project page at http://sf.net/projects/phpwiki/ for the files. 1.3.1 is a development version, currently in the alpha stage, which features fundamental changes to the architecture from 1.2. These changes include the new rendering engine by Arno Hollosi and the move away from individual database files to PEAR's DB.php (think Perl's DBI/DBD from CPAN). 1.2.1 has a gazillion bug fixes and minor enhancements. My thanks to all the PhpWiki team members and to all who've submitted patches. The project moves ahead because of you! It's likely I've goofed somewhere with these releases and omitted something... like patches to 1.2. If so, scream loudly at me and I will try to rectify my mistakes. There's always room for a 1.2.2! ;-) ~swain --- http://www.panix.com/~swain/ "Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid." -- Frank Zappa |

In the long tradition of open source software, I've missed my own target date of 10/31 for a release (two, in fact). I'm behind on a project that has taken longer than I thought it would (a little dynamic site in PHP), and now a friend has passed away and I have to drive NYC -> Cleveland (9 hours) and back over the weekend, so most of that time will be lost too. I will try to roll out the tarballs tonight. We'll have to settle for an All Saint's Day release instead of a Halloween release (here in the USA, at least :0) so look for 1.2.1 and 1.3.1. ~swain --- http://www.panix.com/~swain/ "Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid." -- Frank Zappa |

I think Jeff was talking about doing a word based diff rather then a line based diff. I just found a wiki that does this and thought people might be interested in seeing an implementation of it. Unfortunately it's ASP but ... http://www.openwiki.com/ow.asp?p=RecentVisitors&a=diff adam. |

Steve Wainstead said that he would add it a while back but Sourceforge was having problems then so it might have been lost. It can now be seen at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=475757&group_id=6121&atid=106121 The only other bug I have noticed is not being able to unlock pages, which is already on Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=468595&group_id=6121&atid=106121). This would have been particularly annoying since when I tried importing serialized pages from a 1.2 PhpWiki they were all automatically locked. I managed to work around this by hacking the import code to set all pages to be unlocked, but this really isn't a good solution. I haven't looked properly into either problem. >It'll be good to have new releases out. "Release early and release often" >should be the motto, especially for the development branch... I agree. Yes, Jeff's hacks will be the 1.3 release. Excellent! I was hoping you'd release something soon, because anyone looking at the project page might think it was moribund. One of the things that swayed me towards PhpWiki in the first place was that it looked like it was under active development. > If you have some work you need to commit, please do so as soon as > possible. Well, I just committed a quick-and-dirty email notification patch to the patch manager, but I don't know if it will be of any use. It only emails one person, whose address is hardwired in, but you could perhaps do something with it. I wrote it so I didn't have to keep looking at the RecentChanges on the GtmWiki. I'm in Florida again until Tuesday, but I promise two things: versions 1.2.1 and 1.3.1. I'm using MySQL, my data is: User: root withouh password Database: dbwiki so I assume this in index.php would work .. $DBParams =3D array( // Select the database type: 'dbtype' =3D> 'SQL', //'dbtype' =3D> 'dba', =20 // For SQL based backends, specify the database as a DSN // The most general form of a DSN looks like: // // phptype(dbsyntax)://username:password@protocol+hostspec/database // // For a MySQL database, the following should work: // // mysql://user:password@host/databasename // // FIXME: My version Pear::DB seems to be broken enough that there is // no way to connect to a mysql server over a socket right now. //'dsn' =3D> 'mysql://guest@:/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock/test', 'dsn' =3D> 'mysql://root@localhost/dbwiki', //'dsn' =3D> 'pgsql://localhost/test', =20 // Used by all DB types: // prefix for filenames or table names /*=20 * currently you MUST EDIT THE SQL file too (in the schemas/ directory * because we aren't doing on the fly sql generation during the * installation. */ //'prefix' =3D> 'phpwiki_', =20 // Used by 'dba' 'directory' =3D> "/tmp", 'dba_handler' =3D> 'gdbm', // Either of 'gdbm' or 'db2' work great for me. //'dba_handler' =3D> 'db2', //'dba_handler' =3D> 'db3', // doesn't work at all for me.... 'timeout' =3D> 20, //'timeout' =3D> 5 ); But don't. I'm using this with: Local network Windows 2000 Server Nusphere 1.3.11 for Windows Any cue? Hi, -How far are we from a new release? (Perhaps phpwiki 1.3) -Does the Jeff hack will be the next phpwiki?, cause I see at: http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/ that is the previous version And some things more: Bug #468595, is very easy to solve, just commit as binary. Hi All, I've been having fun playing with the new features the alpha version gives, and it has mostly worked well. I have had a couple of problems, which I will explain here in the hope that it will help anyone else who is having the same problems. The first happens when the "History" of a page is requested in order to perform a diff. The pageinfo.php file is used, however when the diff is requested, a diff on HomePage is performed regardless of the page whose History is being displayed. This seems to be due to the pageinfo page not including a pagename field. This problem could occur because I have set USE_PATH_INFO to be false. The attached patch adds a pagename field to pageinfo, and while it might not be the correct solution it at least seems to work on my installation. Often when a diff is requested on a page with many revisions, and is performed on the HomePage (which has few revisions), a revision cannot be retried, which causes another problem. If diff cannot find a revision the NoSuchRevision() function in stdlib.php is called, which in turn calls GeneratePage(). However GeneratePage() is not defined and a error message is displayed. The GeneratePage() function of relevance seems to be defined in Template.php so the attached patch includes this file. Once again this might not be the best way to do it since I am not familiar with PHP in general nor PHPWiki in particular, but it works for me. I have posted bug reports about these problems on Sourceforge too. Hope this helps, Steven Murdoch. |

All these are good suggestions. I'll be glad to finally see a file upload feature! It should be able to accept any file type though, since people want to upload .doc files as well as .jpg files. It should definitely go in a separate directory, and this feature should be disabled by default (for security). ~swain On Mon, 8 Oct 2001, Adam Shand wrote: > > > 1- Posibility to limit the size of the uploads (in config) > > 2- Posibility to limit file types > > i believe that an upload size limit is already in place for the zip > uploads. restricting file types is probably a good idea but is of limited > use i suspect as files can just be renamed to qualify. > > long term quota's would probably be useful as well to restrict people's > ability to "mailbomb" (upload bomb?) the web server. > > > Not in the dabatase for sure not. I wish the IETF would create a Wiki markup syntax RFC already. :-) I agree, //italic// is more intuitive. ``monospaced`` would be easy to add. ~swain On Tue, 16 Oct 2001, Sergio A.
