I have the same problem ( I have posted this few days ago on a different thread but got no answer ). I use Postgresql to store pages and use file base authentication. I did try to set USE_DB_SESSION to true ( try to set it to false as well ), but it didn't work ( in fact I got some error when I set it to false ). Does the authentication really work on phpwiki? I didn't mean it is broken but not work as everyone thought. ( I don't think login in each page is right ). Reini Urban <ru...@x-...> Sent by: php...@li... 06/15/2004 07:39 AM To cc php...@li... I've not checked the latest version, but can we now escape square brackets? I often use strings like [1,2] or refer to code snippets with square brackets, but of course these aren't links. Using the old markup rules I'd write [[1,2]. So how do I escape the square brackets using the new markup? frank |

Reini, I tried to authenticate and I crashed again, so I just deleted my dev copy and pulled a new one from CVS. Here is one you can fix though :-) I erased my database and tried loading a virgin wiki and it crashed right after loading the HelloWorldPlugin page. I'm going to test the authentication some more and see if I can get some more info on that. Do you know of any settings that I could use to get some more info on where this crash is happening? Here is the PHP error log from loading the virgin wiki: [15-Jun-2004 09:18:46] PHP Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated - argument passed by value; If you would like to pass it by reference, modify the declaration of [runtime function name](). With htpasswd files you may use the utilities for htpasswd files. Like htpasswd from the apache package. If you allow self-creating users, they create themselves at the first login. Otherwise you can set or change a password at the UserPreferences page. If you choose to allow it. If you don't allow password changes, the passwords must already exist. (http auth, db auth, file auth ...) More self-explanatory docs in config.ini. > 2) The page PhpWikiAdministration/SetAcl doesn't yet exist, and I can't > see any documentation on how to create / use it. > > I'm using phpwiki 1.3.10 You have to use latest CVS. -- Reini Urban http://xarch.tu-graz.ac.at/home/rurban/ |

Two problems: 1) How do I set-up users and their passwords? The documentation doesn't explain how you put the password into the page's metadata, nor how to use a htpasswd file, so though I have a page created for the user "tom" who is in group "community", that user still has no password. 2) The page PhpWikiAdministration/SetAcl doesn't yet exist, and I can't see any documentation on how to create / use it. I'm using phpwiki 1.3.10 Regards, Tom |

Thanks to John Cole I should have fixed now the crashes, which appeared at Apache2 and IIS during OldTextFormattingRules. * fix php crashes with call-time pass-by-reference (references wrongly used in declaration AND call). This affected mainly Apache2 and IIS. (Thanks to John Cole to detect this!) I also think I fixed password checking for bogo users, which stored their passwords. * fixed passwd handling for passwords stored in prefs: fix encrypted usage, actually store and retrieve them from db fix bogologin with passwd set. We actually never retrieved prefs from database prefs. Now a couple of pref related problems should have gone also. But tested and verified only against bogo users. And we store the password encrypted now, because we also check against encrypted passwords. We cannot store them in plain when we check then with crypt(). The wording in the UserPreferenecs plugin is not 100% okay, telling us that the password was not changed, but it actually was changed. -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.sf.net/ |

This is an overthought with HttpAuth. I would suggest to setup an Administrators group and add some user (not ADMIN_USER) to this group. This user will have Admin Permissions then, but not the special admin login method, which does not work for http auth (yet). This is it! Thanks. &$this got passed to expand, and expected &$markup. twice referenced. It should only be passed-by-reference in the declaration, not in the call. The anonymous user may read, all other edit. Advanced: Use BogoLogin or any better auth method, the WikiGroup feature, and use PagePermissions (ACL). (This is not fully tested yet) For example with the GROUP_METHOD WIKIPAGE create the CreateCategory page, list the two groups and for each group create a page with all the members. Then create a page '.'. Then in PhpWikiAdministration/SetAcl set the edit permission for this page the the group which is allowed to edit (and change, remove). All other pages inherit their ACL from '.' -- Reini Urban http://xarch.tu-graz.ac.at/home/rurban/ |

Done in the 4 dump calls (as file and zip, as html and mimified). For SetupWiki I decided not to prevent from fatals. The only victim is the FoafViewer plugin which as external requirement.
