A minor issue ... The ADMIN_PASSWD line doesn't use any quoting in the config-dist.ini ... but it's possible for passencrypt.php to output something that needs to be quoted in PHP ... (i.e. with a ; in it) Is there a foolproof way of providing some quoting for this option (I guess we have to avoid ;'" and perhaps others?) by default, or perhaps hacking passencrypt.php so it has a list of characters to avoid? -jim |

One of the wikis I have set up is for a restricted set of admins - it's under https, requires a client ssl certificate, and also requires users to log in before viewing. Reasonably secure ... As a consequence, I'm considering allowing our service passwords to be stored in there. My backend is MySQL, but the db isn't available to any external IP, so I can put up with that. However, page change notifications are emailed out with the complete page source. Plain email isn't secure enough :-( Can I have a page edit notification mailout that *doesn't* send the page content? Preferably for a subset of pages marked "sensitive" but possibly for all? Perhaps the answer is to not use email notifications, and to rely on RSS instead ... but that means I need another application somewhere :-( -jim |

Reini, You are by far the most active developer. Can you ask SourceForge to assign you all the perms to everything? They must deal with this situation often, where some other developers have left or are not active. Dan Reini Urban wrote: > We are hard at our 100MB quota. sf.net will do their webserver upgrades in two days: at 11/3. https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?group_id=1&docid=2352 I will do then some more tests against the new apache2/php-4.3.8 fedora2 setup. hopefully it will work, local testing is okay for me. We are hard at our 100MB quota. The old developers still didn't delete their old directories, or haven't given g+w. Only they can delete it! There are thousands of old files which should get deleted or at least g+w and waste our quota. So it's a bit hard to do testing, when a pgsrc dump or xhtmldump reaches our softquota. I had to delete all old files, some new dirs, and some backups to which I had perms. There's also some stale session_data, which I would like to rm. And I still don't have the old crontab's, so I cannot perform the nightly admin jobs, like nightly snapshot, demo update, session cleanup, ... I can only hope that with the server change they don't enforce quotas too strictly, otherwise we will loose some files. -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.org/ |

I've committed now most of the pending updates, which should fix most of the issues with low memory setings: usecache off and old wikiuser, esp. for sf.net. * old WikiUser sessions are not overlarge anymore (max 4000 byte limit) defaults for old constants: ldap, imap. * lots of Wiki_Page class methods are not passed the wikidb arg anymore, use the global request->_dbi instead. * new WikiUser: all PassUser classes splitted into seperate files to use less memory, * several minor issues detected during regression testing. * USECACHE off safe. using no output buffering then. httpauth not yet. -- Reini Urban http://xarch.tu-graz.ac.at/home/rurban/ |

Of course, I > wasn't using crypt, so didn't read that block of code carefully, until I > set up a new wiki and got auth errors :-) Well, in the code I see that DBAUTH_AUTH_USER_EXISTS is only required if auth_crypt_method != 'crypt'. But I haven't tested it yet. //NOTE: for auth_crypt_method='crypt' no special auth_user_exists is needed > I suggest that this line is moved up, above the initial "; Check to see > if the supplied username/password pair is OK" section. But if your point is valid, I'll move it up like this: ; USER/PASSWORD queries ; ; For USER_AUTH_POLICY=strict and the Db method this is required: ; DBAUTH_AUTH_USER_EXISTS = "SELECT userid FROM user WHERE userid='$userid'" TODO: Somewhere in the ini we should also document which options are required for ENABLE_USER_NEW=false. -- Reini Urban http://xarch.tu-graz.ac.at/home/rurban/ |

It looks like the shipped config-dist.ini isn't clear enough with the required queries in it for the case of plain-password storage in SQL, in 1.3.11 in cvs. The section of comments that holds DBAUTH_AUTH_USER_EXISTS starts with "If you want to use Unix crypt()ed passwords," - however DBAUTH_AUTH_USER_EXISTS is required even if you don't. Of course, I wasn't using crypt, so didn't read that block of code carefully, until I set up a new wiki and got auth errors :-) I suggest that this line is moved up, above the initial "; Check to see if the supplied username/password pair is OK" section. -jim |

I've built htmldoc on windows and on linux and I'm using it for my win2k test server and also on phpwiki.sf.net/demo/ (as you might see). but you need latest CVS of phpwiki. Hallo, i try to change userauth to verify users against the user database of SMF (board software). problem is, they use md5 and crypt to store the passwords. Their login code looks like following: if ($user_settings['passwd'] == crypt($_REQUEST['passwrd'], substr($_REQUEST['passwrd'], 0, 2)) || $user_settings['passwd'] == md5($_REQUEST['passwrd'])) { updateMemberData($user_settings['ID_MEMBER'], array('passwd' => '\'' . $md5_passwrd . '\'')); $user_settings['passwd'] = $md5_passwrd; } // What about if the user has come from vBulletin or Invision? Let's welcome them with open arms \o/. elseif ($user_settings['passwordSalt'] != '' && ($user_settings['passwd'] == md5(md5($_REQUEST['passwrd']) . $user_settings['passwordSalt']) || $user_settings['passwd'] == md5(md5($user_settings['passwordSalt']) . md5($_REQUEST['passwrd'])))) { // Get our new encryption in! updateMemberData($user_settings['ID_MEMBER'], array('passwd' => '\'' . $md5_passwrd . '\'', 'passwordSalt' => '\'\'')); $user_settings['passwd'] = $md5_passwrd; } ist it possible to use it in phpwiki also? Regards Stefan |

I seem to lost it. You want this version http://wiki.crao.net/index.php/JabberPr%E9sence/Source in the distro? I only will remove the FoadViewerPlugin from the distro, because it might crash on SetupWiki, when the required pear classes are not present. I've turned off WikiUserNew (ENABLE_USER_NEW = false) at http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/ which brings another 300KB memory, and I will check after the web upgrade how much memory we will have then to handle larger pages. Yeah, and I delete userpages which look like spam or nonsense. We are are very tight on ressources on this site. -- Reini Urban http://phpwiki.org/ |
