supporting <pre></pre> would be useful for cut'n'paste from html but given
that none of the other tags would migrate cleanly i don't see that it's
that big a deal.

as for <nowiki> vs. <code> if we're copying meatball lets just copy them.
what is their recommendation?  we may as well try and make this stuff as
standard as possible between wikis.
