Thanks Reini for the README patch.

I think the problem you're having here is due to my changes:
  The load-from-dir code (which is being called to setup the wiki)
now enters the pages it loads into RecentChanges.   It's trying to
update RecentChanges before RecentChanges has been loaded, and not
handling it gracefully.

I'll fix it soon (within three hours or so), so try again after
my next CVS commit.

I suspect the mysql schema is okay, but I'll check that too.
