Correct. This must be fixed. We are pondering the right ways to fix it. 
(Bug# 391 in our internal Bugzilla). In particular, what is the right 
way (including an understandable user interface) to combine manually 
chosen buddies with automagically chosen ones? To be honest, it is not 
highest on the list right now, but it's clearly a hole.

Factoring out the different backends into different classes is a good idea.

Just to let you know, I'm happy to see you do anything you want. 
However, if we can't tune it so that we can run wikilens.org, then we'll 
probably modify it in some way.
