Hi All(-e DeutschSprachigePhpWikizens), Recently I have been discussing modifications to the German version of PhpWiki with Helmer Pardun, who is writing a new book about Wikis. http://www.deutschewikiakademie.de/phpwiki We have concluded that we would like to have PhpWiki in both formal German and a separate translation for informal German. As it stands now, the German PhpWiki is a mixture of formal and informal. (In comparison, the French PhpWiki translations are strictly formal.) The formal version would be ideally targeted towards businesses and other organizations who may be interested in starting their own PhpWiki, and who otherwise would not even be able to consider using PhpWiki because it currently employs the informal German language; while the informal version could still be offered for the Wiki-hobbyists (who probably would not insist on traditional formal German anyway). Another possibility would be to eliminate the informal German from PhpWiki altogether; however, seeing as a lot of work has already gone towards the current (informal) German translation of PhpWiki I think it best to keep it and simply add a formal German translation. Also, I would like to see any formal notation (Sie) as the default for a German PhpWiki installation, but we can continue to offer the informal (Du) as an option. Perhaps by renaming the current "phpwiki/locale/de" directory to "phpwiki/locale/de-informal"? (oder "phpwiki/locale/de-informell"?) In that case, WikiHobbyists would then simply discard "phpwiki/locale/de" and replace it with the contents of "phpwiki/locale/de-informal" if he/she so chooses for their personal PhpWiki. If there are no objections within a week or so, I would like to make the necessary changes to maintain two separate variations of these German translations in the PhpWiki-CVS. Any comments, suggestions or ideas? (Positive, negative, or otherwise welcome.) Vielen Dank, Carsten Klapp <car...@us...> |
