    Hi.

I have installed the "stable" release of PHPWIKI on windows using PWS nad found it to be very straight forward.

I am now trying ot install the development version and have encountered a whole heap of problems. Before I spend many hours trying to debug the code it would be nice to know that this version has been installed on windows before.

    Anyone have it working ?.

    Thanks.
    Richard

What sort of problems?  (What is PWS?)
What version of PHP are you running?

The  development branch requires PHP version 4, while the stable branch will run under PHP version 3 or 4.  Could that be the root of your problems?

PWS is Personal Web Server - The free Microsoft web server (IIS).

I have tried to install on two machines one with  PHP 4.04 and one with PHP 4.05.

My install is configured to use MySQL

I can't recall the exact symptoms for the problem (my PC is at home) but they seem to fall into three areas :

      1. When running for the first time there seems to be no process to load the default pages. Instead I get presented with the first page called "index.php" not "HomePage". The hitcout for page "index.php" is incremented - so I know the MySQL piece is working.

      2. The reference to the CSS file is incorrect - I have left the definition as the default in the code,
It is translated to www.mydomin.com/\phpwikk.css (i.e. there is a backslash).

      3. When a page is displayed from a template the translation of the ###LASTMODIFIED###    variable is not populated and this displays on the page.

There are probably loads more - but I am concentrating on the above for a start.

I am also trying to get APACHE installed instead of PWS but that is not going well either,

All in all not been a good day !!

All fixed - stupid installation mistake. I was relying on the default settings too much.
