I am able to see the "loading up virgin wiki" page and all is well (no errors reported--only Notices re:InterWikiMap). If I reload the page, I get garbage. I've checked for double gzipping and added the patch with no change. The behavior happens with both mozilla, netscape, and lynx despite removing the dbm file repeatedly and reloading.
The machine is running apache and php 4.2.2 on a redhat 7.3 installation. Php accesses other gdbm calls okay.
Weird part, if I telnet into the machine and manually request the page, it comes back as it should (that is, the default Homepage).
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you ever resolve this? I'm getting the same problem. On my Mac Safari, Explorer or OmniWeb, the pages are OK but with Netscape 7 (Mac) or Explorer on a Win2000 all I get is gibberish (looks like binary). Wierd!
