I found that the server was generating a couple of
notice error messages on every page of phpWiki, here
are some examples:

index.php:
/usr/local/lib/php/DB/common.php:1292: Notice: Only
variable references should be returned by reference
(...repeated 4 times)

lib/DbSession/SQL.php:97: Notice: Only variables should
be assigned by reference

index.php/HomePage:
/usr/local/lib/php/DB/common.php:1292: Notice: Only
variable references should be returned by reference
(...repeated 2 times)

lib/DbSession/SQL.php:97: Notice: Only variables should
be assigned by reference

/usr/local/lib/php/DB.php:898: Notice: Only variable
references should be returned by reference

These notices may be symptoms of more significant problems.

I am using PHP 4.4.0, with Apache 1.3.33 on Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 4.

    Just add a line

    error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);

    in the beginning of

    main.php: class WikiRequest::WikiRequest ()

    function body. This is quick and dirty but turned off all
    annoying notices while keeping some interesting ones working
    for me.
