Hi Vincent, The GetTLD method was removed as it wasn't deemed necessary. As I recall, it was only used once, and it made more sense to include that routine in the part of the code that was using it. However, I don't remember exactly. Feel free to break it back out into a seperate function, and submit a patch to the SourceForge patch tracker. If it makes the code more usable, it may make it into a subsequent release. Hi! I was using the GetTLD method in the old version of the software, it is no longer present in the new one, why? The new code used to detemine the TLD in the Whois method can not be used for what I want to do with it (starting line 147 in 3.0.4 version of main.whois). Usage example : - I have a hostname like "ppp-123456.city.domain-name.com.br" - I want to know what domain name is related to it - GetTLD called with "ppp-123456.city.domain-name.com.br" returns me ".com.br" - I go one level higher, it gives me back the full domain name "domain-name.com.br" - I can do a normal phpwhois request with "domain-name.com.br" to get the whois info I am willing to contribute any of my modifications to the software, can someone put me in the developpers list? Thank you Vincent |

Hi, I've pulled the lasted version of PhpWhoIs from the CVS and it appears to work ok apart from domains that don't exist, i.e., if I lookup "zzz123zzz.com" it causes a "The page cannot be display" error in the browser. Does anyone else experience this problem?, failing which I know I've got a 'local' problem. Thanks, John |

Its seriously busted now for .org lookups. mmm ... what's exactly the problem ? I checked it for .org domains registered at netsol (i.e. olsns.org) and works fine. I made some minor fixes and now it correclty parses .org/netsol. As I check all other gtld handlers I will add it's org handles to gtld.whois. -- Best regards ... We need to fix the .ORG lookups so that it does the initial lookup at their server and then follows the reference back to the registrar whois server. Its seriously busted now for .org lookups. I'll see what I can do but if someone wants to tackle it, I'm not sure when I'll get to it. -mark On Sun, 9 Feb 2003, David Saez wrote: > Hi !! > > > servers.whois. Please check it out. I've committed a patch to CVS HEAD to use the 'whois-servers.net' lookup method, instead of the maintability nightmare that is (was?) servers.whois. Please check it out. Works fine for me except for domains that use 'gtld.whois', which appears to be throwing up all kinds of warnings. I'll look into that seperately if nobody else beats me to it. Hi, I've been attempting to use the latest phpwhois-3.0.1, and have a couple of questions. What's the '.whois' extension all about? Is that intended to confuse graphical file managers, or just to be unconventional? What's wrong with using '.php' as the extension? Also, I had to delve into main.whois to try to work out what was going on. What's with the dodgy indentation? It doesn't help the code readability much. I know they're pretty petty issues, but I just can't figure out why they are the way they are, and felt compelled to ask. -- Ross |
