You take your chances with this copy. Roswell is a testing CVS. It remains separate because Alessandro works on it for critical code (for example, the 0.8.1.1 patch) Alessandro has a CVS snapshot of HIS work. Since he knows it works for him and only he works on it, it should stable. Fallout is the new core code that I am working on and hope to get others on as well. It is alpha and definately not production ready. In short, work on the main CVS code. Check out Alessandro's code to see all the stuff he is working on or get an up-to-date CVS copy. Check out Fallout if you want to see where we are headed and want to help. Best regards, Matthew McNaney Internet Systems Architect Electronic Student Services Email: ma...@tu... Well, expect for previously specified things I always work on the main CVS branch. I use Roswell to develop particular time-limited versions of phpWebSite, like the 0.8.1.1 version or the test on php 4.1.x. Next Roswell usage will come after 0.8.2, when I'll craft a version of phpWebSite which won't require register_globals=On anymore. Also, I've never offered downloads of Roswell: CVS snapshots on my site are built on the main CVS branch. About the links on the mainpage: since users asked for it, I forwarded this request to Matthew some days ago and he agreed about them :> > And Alessandro....my e-mails are swamping me. Sorry I haven't been participating much. Work has been busy. I wanted to help out on the debugging of CVS, but I'm a little confused. I want to put the translated english version up and test it on a live site and test it out. The best way to find out the problems. However, I wanted to get some clarifications from all of you. I noticed that there were some braches. Alessandro has one, Matt has one, and so now we have three. phpwebsite, fallout, and roswell. The daily snapshots have two links. The one created by Jeremy, and now by Alessandro. I like how Alessandro maintains a date on his snapshot, but I wanted to know are they the same or different? Is Alessandro's a snapshot of roswell and jeremy's of phpwebsite? Which of the two snapshots are we focussing on? Or are they the same? And Alessandro....my e-mails are swamping me. But thank you for the personal thank you note from you. :^) TaT |

However, I found a hack on the phpWebsite site that seems to have fixed the user login problem by changing around the way that substring is used in concjunction with the encryption. My concern is that the 8.1.1 upgrade was supposed to have fixed this and didn't. Any comments? Geoff |

We upgraded to PHP 4.1.1. Of course, the admin login broke due to a session problem. And, the user login also broke - as expected. So, we installed 8.1.1 -- actually I simply copied the files onto the server and didnot run setup. This fixed the Admin login, but the User login is still not working. Any suggestions? Geoff |

To those of you interested (hi mom!) the new core is working with calendar. I made one change to one file to get it to work. The userpage admin section is working but the menu component needs recoding since it is not a module. Take a look at CVS if you are curious. Definately take a look if you write modules/plugins =) Matthew McNaney Internet Systems Architect Electronic Student Services Email: ma...@tu... Hello, I tried to add functionality to the userpage mod because I want to save metatags (keywords and description) for each page I create. So I updated the class userpage and all functions. It works with the keywords but when I add support for the meta description, too (which is just another variable and input field) all data gets lost after the preview and I get the $current_data->page_error("refresh"); error. Any ideas what's going wrong? Thanks in advance, /Tobias |

Hi All, I've jsut fixed update/install to make them correctly handle upgrades from 0.7.x (bugs: 505361, 505395 and 505408). I also changed install to use poll_setup to set up tables intead of doing it on its own (this helped fixing 505361). More fixes to come. Hi I get this question asked very often in my forum on phpws.de, so I forward it to the devolper-list: Is anybody working on a real forum implementation (e.g. phpBB2)? OK, there is a forum-module but it's extremly buggy and I get no response from the developer (the last version is more than 2 months old and the module is nearly unusable due to many big bugs). There is big interest for such a module, at least from the german users :) -- Fridtjof Busse Al Gore invented the Internet, Bill Gates deployed it. That's their respective stories, anyways |

ok, here goes... i've installed it on a few phpwebs, and no problems yet... it works nice with the admin panel module installer in the CVS version, so the only manual work you have to do is to populate the stylesheets in the database after the module is installed, and change the one line in the theme (see README)... i havent encountered any issues with it, but as i said, i've only tested it with 0.8.1 and CVS releases... if i remember correctly, it is table_prefix aware. so here you go.. suggestions or comments welcome.. i'll gladly work on it some more. personally, i find this one pretty useful. regards, Vlad > > Vlad, > > I would be very interested in seeing that code. The expansion is just in the plug_check function. It allows the old blockpos of 0,1,2, and 3. Now there are more. See the module_readme in the docs dir in cvs for more details. I tried to help define how to uses the new stuff there. > I'm sure you know, but there are some kinks in > the installation process. I'm not sure how this happened. This code is a straight cut and past from the phpwebsite menu code. I use it to insert the menu link for the Hub-It index page. I did forget a ";" at the end of the function call so that may have been it. The last two errors I have fixed. They were from the class constructor and no SQL tables after uninstall. Ok everyone; I added a new module to cvs. The module name is Hub-It. If anyone wants to test it out, give it a shot. I would like to have a stable copy and call it 1.0 when the next version of phpwebsite comes out. It will be in mods directory with calendar. Please no feature request until 1.0, just bugs. I need to get a stable version out first. The Hub-It module does the following. It gets any RDF and some XML feeds. It gets new phpwebsite RDF 1.0 feed which include descriptions of articles and times. It gets other Hub-It feeds. All feeds are stored in the database including cache. Admin may put any feed anywhere on his page. He may also put them on multiple sides at once. All feeds that include descriptions will have the option to see the descriptions of the feed items. An index of all feeds may be seen with the admin deciding how many per columns of feeds. The new hub options let you create hub feeds that then allow other Hub-It sites to get central feeds with all the content. Over all what this allows you to do is create a large collection of phpwebsites together and have announcement content at the opening site. Everything will be tree structured like most large sites with different departments, like us at ASU. Anyway for the people who have not seen the now module installer & uninstaller than take a look it works with it. It also works with the now plug_check code. You can now put modules on the left, top center, middle center, bottom center, right, or in any of the combinations. -- Jeremy Agee phpWebSite Development Team (http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu) Appalachian State University phpEasyAdmin (http://easyadmin.sourceforge.net) |
