Has anyone got experience of handling audio and video files with php? I've been thinking for a while that PhotoAlbum should handle all sorts of media files. There's all sorts of expensive encoder kits for servers such as On2 (as used at YouTube apparently) which take any video format and convert to Flash Video. However, a quick hunt around this afternoon lead me to an ffmpeg php extension which sounds like a cheap solution (ie. free). http://ffmpeg-php.sourceforge.net/ There's a few issues... 1) a better upload facility for large files (any ideas?) 2) it's only for people who have their own servers and can compile in a PHP extension. 3) still got to convert files if you want all your video in say Flash Video or Quicktime. 4) Latest WMV3 not supported Anyone got any other ideas or experience to share?
