-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This caught my eye. One of the problems with phpWebSite in my estimation is that information on modules, themes, and the core application are spread all over the place. Perhaps something like CIA could be used to aggregate third party changes and the main phpWebSite cvs commits. Now that works for some of the larger module/theme projects that have CVS scripts implemented. However, smaller projects may not be able to integrate into something like CIA since they may or may not be using CVS/SVN. https://cia.navi.cx/ https://cia.navi.cx/doc https://cia.navi.cx/doc/adding-projects https://cia.navi.cx/stats/project/BZFlag https://cia.navi.cx/stats/author/davidtrowbridge Another option is something like http://planet.maemo.org/ or planet.phpWebSite. In the case of CIA, it doesn't matter where the site is located. The goal of CIA is to track multiple projects to see what's going on in general in all areas of the Open Source world. The goal of a planet.phpWebSite is to aggregate multiple community feeds in one location. There in lies another problem that I see with the phpWebSite community. Where would something like a planet.phpWebSite be hosted? Depending on how a system like this works, there may not be enough web site/database space available to host planet.phpWebSite on sourceforge. The college site looks like a good place to host something like this but, then there may be legal or political reasons that a plaent.phpWebSite cannot be hosted at phpwebsite.appstate.edu. So how would the community do something like this? Ok so some individual says they'll create the site. The community will come to rely on the information and then one day poof the site is gone. For example, some phpWebSite hall of famers are now either just a parking domain out in the big Internet spewing add links, or the former useful phpWebSite related info is under a construction banner. http://www.phpgirl.net/ http://www.phpgirl.org/ http://www.shirka.org/ Let's play where's Mike Winzor while we are at it too. ;-) So how could the community do something like this so that it lives on past the initial curator? I guess the larger question is how can the cohesiveness of the larger phpWebSite community be improved? Would tools like these two listed above help? Is this a worthwhile endeavor?
