Hello Greg. I would like to point out, that I think you are touching a very crucial point when it comes to building the page content, seen from an architectural point of view. In an idealistic framework, all of the html code should come from the template files. That would give the designers and theme developers the opportunity to change every single html statement, without making changes in the php files. When I develop 3rd party modules, I try to get as much as possible of the html code into the template files. Sometimes I find the need of constructing some part of the html statements within my php file, particularly when it comes to the top menu, anchor tags and image tags. I think a far better solution would be if there was some core functionality (like the Database.php class) I could call, which could help me create the html code I need. That would remove the html code inside my on module (besides the template files of course), and there would only be one place to look, if for example the structure of the anchor statement should be changed. Besides construction simple html tags, the "html helper" could construct more complex html structures like the top menu, which almost every module use today. Another candidate could be the action part of a list with the "show/hide | view | edit | delete" part. Regards Michael H.
