So, the current permission system seems to be that the permissions aren't used unless you're an admin? That does indeed seem superfluous although being able to switch on/off all the permissions for a user might be handy. So, in theory +1. Couldn't we just sidestep this by having a group of users defined with no permissions and moving the user to that group if you want to ban them? Simplify the whole interface by just having a group pulldown to assign them to a group. I hope, for 1.0, we have some default user groups sorted with appropriate default permissions. How about....
