[Phpwebsite-developers] remote mysql connections

I have a desire (for cpu reasons) to have phpwebsite(s) on one box and th=
e=20
MySql server running locally on another box -

I have it setup and what I believe are the necessary permissions for the=20
remote box to connect to the MySql box- but when it does, mysql remits th=
is=20
error:
mysql> /usr/bin/safe_mysqld: line 278:  4715 Segmentation fault     =20
$NOHUP_NICENESS $ledir/$MYSQLD $defaults --basedir=3D$MY_BASEDIR_VERSION=20

Number of processes running now: 1
mysqld process hanging, pid 4725 - killed
030205 20:32:21  mysqld restarted

THe script, db_look.php, reports back this:

Any idea?

I have looked all over for info on this and can not find it.
