Mailman is a great mailing list program.  It's automatic web archive
interface is wonderful.  We're using it right now on SourceForge.  Its list
of users is quite impressive, so it's proven in very large environments.
BTW, egroups (now part of Yahoo) was also written in Python.

If we could get the same functionality in a PHP product, then we should use
it.  I just haven't seen one yet.
