[Phpwebsite-developers] Plugin Interface for incorporating other apps

I haven't been posting anything lately on the list or on the forums I've 
just been reading all the discussions and I've been ready to code something 
for awhile now :)  Yea I know we should get some things changed before 
coding but I'm a coder at heart what can I say...!  Anyways, a new idea...

Has anyone thought about how we could take say a guestbook with its own 
tables and structure etc and have it work with phpWebSite without changing 
the code of either app?  I've been thinking about this and have a few ideas 
on it.

1) We could either pass their username/pw to the other app (not too safe)
2) We could have another table with user names and encrypted pws to send to 
the other app's login page and have it login the user that way.  The 
encrypted PW would be their pw for all the plugged-in applications like say 
a chat script, guestbook, etc.
3) I think phpWebSite's login module needs to be redone before this could 
be used in a safe matter.

Anyone got any ideas on this subject.....
