It lacks group support out of the box, but I have seen additions to
implement that.

In short: I would like to use phplib or something based on that (or our own
implementation, remember the Koehntopp article I posted?), just because it
is good to know what you are using _rather well_ when it has something to do
with security (and I looked under the hood of phplib long enough :-) ).
