Richard Rowell initially recommended ADODB.

Karsten and I then recommended PEAR.  I thought it would be a better choice
because it was poised to be more "official" and is being merged with phplib.

Since the ADODB 0.95 release, I'm reconsidering.  ADODB appears to be an
excellent object oriented encapsulation layer with wide database support.
Maybe it's me, but I think PEAR can only be retrieved from CVS.  We do need
to make a decision though.

I propose the developers consider this very important decision over the next
week, but set a deadline of next Friday to make the decision.
