Your second statement about coyright statements is not the way to go as a copyright statement is one of ownership and not one to drive traffic. You are probably nowhere in legal terms as what you have done is create two invalid licenses rather than one that protects you. Driving link traffic will come by association with phpWebsite, you shouldn't need to drive other traffic. Making money, which we all like to do is achieved by offering value add services. If you would like to discuss this off the bug tracking then place contact me via davidw (at) spam datamgmt (dot) com - obviously removing the spam and converting the characters rgds davidw ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eloi George (adarkling) Date: 2003-07-15 00:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=619893 I'm not sure what you mean by "generic". Basically pupose of the copyright statement is to give us "link popularity" in exchange for use of the module. There's a more complete explanation in the module license located in the article/docs directory. It doesn't matter if users see it or not -- what's important is that search engine spiders do. I've thought about stuff like making the link the same color as the background, but tricks like that would actually make your site get ranked -lower-. That's why I stayed with the unobtrusive text link. I figure if someone wants the link off that badly, they'll throw some cash my way in exchange for a non-copyright license. [wink][wink] However, if you want to put the copyright in the footer like that, I don't mind. It accomplishes the same purpose, so everyone still wins. That's where it's supposed to go, but you may have run into one of the bugs I fixed today. Download version 1.1 & your problems should go away. [fingers crossed] I've changed the deletion behavior so that when you press "Delete" it takes you to a confirmation page. If you press "Yes", it deletes the page & shows the main menu. Maybe this should be caught first ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eloi George (adarkling) Date: 2003-07-11 18:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=619893 Thanks for using Article Manager! From the information you sent it looks like one of the core modules (Pager) is in the middle of calculating how many listings to show on this page. If Article tells it to list 0 articles on each page, you will end up with that error. By default its set to show 20 per page. It may have gotten changed to 0 by accident. From the main menu choose "Configuration" and where it says "Number of listings to show per page under the Main Menu", change it to any number greater than 0. Let me know if that fixed the problem for this and your other bug report "[ 769714 ] List articles does not show any articles". In my next release I'll make sure that 0 is not an option for that question. -Eloi- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=563509&aid=769694&group_id=81360 |

This looks as if the software is trying to write somewhere that I haven't set the right poermissions for. The webserver runs as apache.apache, whilst the directories are owned by datamgmt.apache and the default permissions at 775 What needs more access ? rgds davidw ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David M Walker (datamgmt) Date: 2003-07-13 12:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=806718 This can be closed. I have tracked it down to an errant character from a cut and paste into the text section rdgs davidw ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eloi George (adarkling) Date: 2003-07-12 22:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=619893 That message isn't generated by Article. It could be an error message generated by one of the core functions or by the server itself. That the text from the server textblock is included is even more puzzling. The only server directories that Article writes to are under /images/article -- everything else is written to the database. You can try raising permissions in those directories. If that didn't work, I need to know when exactly you're getting the error message. Is it when you're saving the first section? The entire page? Are you saving an image at the same time? What kind of image is it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=563509&aid=770038&group_id=81360 |
