It seems that mailing lists? newsletters? or something similar and the news
headline fetching feature could work closely together along the lines of
http://www.tappy.com/slashwatch/
Users can sign up to get the latest headlines mailed to them and can choose the
frequency of mailings, eg daily, weekly digest etc. (I guess this would require
a cron job??).

This, at least for my own purposes, would be a very important feature. Anybody
else have a need for sth along these lines?
