[Paul Rogalinski] > i am posting it in this mailinglist, because wonko seems to have > shutdown the devslice page (www.phpslice.org), and its the only way > to contact the slice-audience. I apologize for that. I haven't had the time (or desire) to maintain the site, and with the recent server switch to Apache, several odd problems cropped up that I just didn't have time to deal with. I'll be more than happy to transfer the PHPSlice domains (phpslice.org and phpslice.com) to anyone who can demonstrate a real desire to continue working on and supporting the code. My reasons for orphaning PHPSlice are many. First and foremost, I have a very demanding job which sometimes sees me coding for 10 hours a day, after which the *last* thing I want to do is write more code. But also, I've come to be dissatisfied with the overall structure and nature of PHPSlice, which I feel was flawed from the beginning (this was completely my fault). I'm currently piecing together, slowly but surely as I have time, a content management system called Infocalypse. I'm taking great care with the code structure and design in an attempt to make it as flawless as possible (whereas PHPSlice was originally the result of several all-night coding binges, which is never good). Hopefully I'll have time to finish it. In the meantime, good luck. PHPSlice is still better than most of the content management systems out there, and I'd like to see its development continue, even without my support. -- Ryan Grove ry...@wo... http://wonko.com/ |

Dear phpslicers. i recently decided to drop further phpslice develpement. the reasons vary from lack of time to the lack of develpers. my current job is about programming java from early morning into evening, and i rarely have time and motivation to keep coding on weekends. the situation could change if phpslice would get some serious developers, but right now it was and is a one-man job. i cant handle it nomore due personal reasons. if some of you are really interested in helping phpslice out, and have php-coding abilites, please contact me. if we can create a developer team, i am sure phpslice developement will continue, but right now there is simply no team. i am posting it in this mailinglist, because wonko seems to have shutdown the devslice page (www.phpslice.org), and its the only way to contact the slice-audience. again, if you are interessted in continuing the phpslice developement, please contact me. i will setup you a cvs account on sourceforge and explain the existing branches and the current state of development. Lets see if we can form a new developer-team then. -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pu...@hi... irc: #highteq on ircnet icq: 1177279 aim: pu1s4r www: http://www.t00ltime.de |

I think this is a boneheaded config problem but... Whenever I try to click the link to the javascript:PopupChat() I get the following error: Line: 1 char: 12 Error: Object Expected code: 0 URL: http://suzitech.org/? I get something similar whenever the "Say" button is pressed as well (although it does submit the chat contents to chat.dat). Line: 284 Char: 43 Error: Object Expected code: 0 URL: http://suzitech.org/? As far as I can tell the config.php is pointing at the correct locations and such. I've installed in the DocumentRoot and the site URL/path settings are as such: $site_url = "http://suzitech.org/"; $site_path = "/"; Apache 1.3.19, PHP 4.1.1, MySQL 3.23.38, PHPSlice 0.2.0 rc3 Any insights appreciated! Thanks! -- Chris Alexander [ http://root.moose.ca/~chris ] |

Christopher Seaman wrote: > where should i look for info about any other issues i may run into w/ my > (not-quite)antiquated version of php? Sadly, this is a topic that isn't very well-documented. I'm not actively developing PHPSlice anymore these days, but when I was, I tended to make every effort to utilize the latest PHP features in order to keep PHPSlice as secure, efficient, and legacy-free as possible. I would imagine that pulsar (who is now the main developer on the project) is the same way. So, to sum up: PHPSlice should _always_ work on the latest version of PHP. It will _probably_ (but not always) work on the previous few versions. However, the further back you go down the upgrade ladder, the less likely it is that you'll be able to run PHPSlice without problems. If you've got an ISP or website host that runs an old version of PHP (especially one as old as 4.0.1pl2), a good way to get them to upgrade would be to point out to them that the version they're running has many known bugs and security issues, and that refusing to upgrade is not only an inconvenience to their users, but could also compromise the security or stability of the server. Most good sysadmins will listen to reason. If you have one who won't, I strongly recommend switching to a different host. Best of luck. -- Ryan Grove ry...@wo... http://wonko.com/ |

wordwrap isn't a happy function with php4.0.1 , unfortunately i am on a = vhost so i don't have full say over what version i'm using (all i can do = is suggest an upgrade). The site works so far (minus wordwrap, which = isn't a big issue) where should i look for info about any other issues i may run into w/ my = (not-quite)antiquated version of php? thanks to y'all again -chris |

Perhaps it's the PHP version that's the problem. > Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wordwrap() in > /web/guide/chris-seaman/wwwfp/user.php on line 646 That error tells me that PHP doesn't understand the wordwrap() function which was introduced I believe after 4.0.1pl2 Check the FAQ and/or the README for which version of PHP you should be running. ----- Original Message ----- From: <php...@li...> To: <php...@li...> Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 12:29 PM Subject: phpslice-devel digest, Vol 1 #43 - 1 msg > Send phpslice-devel mailing list submissions to > php...@li... > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/phpslice-devel > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > php...@li... > > You can reach the person managing the list at > php...@li... > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of phpslice-devel digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. I just setup a new site using phpslice, and whenever I attempt to login, logout, or basically anything that requires a cookie I receive this error: Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at config.php:526) in functions.php on line 111 Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at config.php:526) in functions.php on line 111 Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at config.php:526) in /usr/local/share/doc/apache/droidarenahq.com/user.php on line 190 Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at config.php:526) in /usr/local/share/doc/apache/droidarenahq.com/user.php on line 191 Now if I refresh the main site, whatever I was trying to do, log in or log out, will work. But this error won't seem to go away. I'm using PHP 4.01pl2, and had to addin the 4.02 "wordwrap" function, but I don't think that this error would be caused by using 4.01pl2. Any ideas? |

Hello Mark, Friday, December 07, 2001, 12:25:46 AM, you wrote: g> I am running php slice on a win box. I know they suck. But due to my connection I have to run it. My problem is everytime someone tries to post on my site they get an error message that says g> server localhost found error on port 80 g> I need help fixing this. I was told that I needed to chmod the script but I can't use chmod because of the server. I set all the properties to full access and still the error comes up. Please g> email me back with ideas. Thanks in advance. Mark i am developing phpslice on winXP / apache / php, never experienced those problems. I supposte your configuration is kinda broken. check $site_url and $site_path if they are set correctly. alternatively you might want to change localhost to 127.0.0.1 (if the name localhost doesnt resovle correct) if you let people from outside post on your "localhost" then the word localhost is poiting to the clients local machine, and surely most of them have no slice or webserver istalled :)) so, either you change $site_url to the ip your connection is assigned to, or you use a dynamic dns service like www.dyndns.org and enter that hostname in your $site_url. -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pu...@hi... |

Hi, i finshed yesterday the image upload and automatic thumbnail creation features of phpslice. Its based on imagemagick covert tool. it has been tested on win2k (xp actually) and linux (redhat 7.x). You will have to obtain the imagemagic for windows manually, linux comes usually with a preinstalled version. if you cant access the cvs using anonymous account, or dont know how, i can email you the current version. -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pu...@hi... |

Hello dev-team, here is a copy&paste of my phpslice.com article: i have been working all the night, and have implemented a feature for handling images in news content. next beta will be released very soon. here are some basic features: - works only in post news. I think its not a good idea to let foregin people upload files on your server. maybe i will do some further fileprocessing (mime type parsing) to make sure, the uploaded file is an image. - seamles integration into the news-editing gui. you can upload, delete, preview and align the images as easy you edit news. - you can upload a thumbnail and a full resolution image. if a full resolution image is available, the thumbnail automatically links to the big one (will be displayed on a extra page, you can do further layout work there if you wish) - uploading is done via form-uploads if you want more than one image per news, please use <img> tag and upload them by yourself using ftp, webdav or whatever. i have made the list of allowable tags in newsentries accessable in config.php, so you can insert the img tag there. todo: - fix a minior bug, when deleting an image in preview mode, the image is still there until you commit your changes. - recursive file deleting (means, when you delete a news entry, its images will be deleted too) - adapting the mysql changes (very minior ones) for mssql, postgres. anyone of you maybe ? Beside the image-thing, i have implemented a "macro engine" (well, 3 lines of regex code). instead of getting mad typing links in news you can simply type ["http://--whatever--"MyFancySite"] . it will automatically create a link and set its target to a new browserwindow. please tell me what kind of macros do you else need. so.. . cvs update will follow tomorrow (if i dont find serious bugs), and as soon we have tested it and found it "bugfree" (whatever it is *g*), the 0.1.9 might be released. goodnight :) -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pu...@hi... irc: #highteq on ircnet |

pulsar has been continuing to contribute to the PHPSlice project even though I've been completely busy with other things, and we're branding the current version in CVS 0.1.8. I'll be posting a .zip version on phpslice.org either later tonight or tomorrow. I'd like to stress the fact that this project is by no means dead. I haven't been able to contribute lately due to various circumstances, but hopefully I'll have more free time in the future. In the meantime, remember that this is open-source, and you shouldn't be depending on just a few developers to keep this thing moving. Those of you who have contributed in any way -- whether by submitting snippets of code, logging bug requests, or just using PHPSlice on your site -- you are the ones who keep this project moving. Let's not allow it to stagnate just because I'm a little busy. The CVS tree is open for public perusal, and we'd be ecstatic if you'd send us code to be considered for a commit into the official source. In addition, if you'd like to contribute to the project in any other way, let me know. We could really use someone to watch over PHPSlice.org, since that was one of my roles and I'm indisposed for the foreseeable future. If you'd like the job (which would include posting news and keeping the site running the latest official code release), send me an email. One area we could really use some help in is themes. I don't think people really understand just how customizable the look of PHPSlice is. All the current themes are basically just different color schemes with a few minor twists, but what we really need, in order to demonstrate how powerful PHPSlice is, are some themes that implement some radical design changes with a new HTML template. If you'd like to submit a theme for possible inclusion in the official release, we'd love you forever. Thanks guys. Let's keep up the good work. -- Ryan Grove ry...@wo... http://wonko.com/ |

Hi, I'm running phpslice on Win2K w/Apache 1.32 and php4.06 and 0.17 of phpslice. I am noticing <form action="/php/php.exe" method=POST> at the top of some forms in the admin page when viewing source. What the users and I are seeing, upon certain posts (post news, vote, etc.) is a "No input file specified" error. In admin.php, I see a few instances of: print "<form action=$SCRIPT_NAME method=POST>\n"; my document root is set to ../blabla/htdocs, and that is where all the website files have been copied, with lib and images brought along as subdirectories. Is this a php.ini issue, config.php issue, or httpd.conf? Thanks PF |

I dont like the idea leaving the inactive users still in the database. it would produce waste in the db and further make it impossible for new users to takeover the already "locked" nick. how about to let the administrator do a choice what to do : - delete all comments / articles matching the user - remap the articles to another user / anonymous - do nothing :) the thing about locked users would mean, we would have to rewrite the usermanagemen partialy (not a big deal), but as i mentioned before, i dont like dead users in the tblUsers table. tell me what you think about it, and i could make proper changes to the database / user management. -- Best regards, Paul mailto:pu...@hi... |
