colossus.net. Other than this one problem with getting a newer version of php going (not to mention getting xml support in there), they are great. For $60 a month I get 5 complete websites with unique ip's, almost unlimitted emails, ftp and telnet accounts, 200mb storage for each (for a total of 1gb), a nice web based admin, MySQL, perl, real server, etc etc. For $100 you can get 15 sites, and $5 for each additional. I chose them because I am planning on selling hosting along with my web design services. And they are really quick to fix most problems. You're pretty much on your own as far as figuring out how to use anything, which is fine for me because I know what I'm doing... Why they'd want to stick with an older, beta version of PHP I dont know. I could understand them sticking with older, tried-and-true stable software (they're also running linux 2.0.36) just to play it safe, but this I dont get. I wouldnt care much if I could get php to compile on their system, but it hangs while running ./configure. And this is one of those things they wont give tech support on... its up to me to figure it out. I tried compiling php on my linux box but it doesnt run on their system, and I dont know linux well enough to know why (suspect it could be because I have a newer, 2.2.x kernel). If anybody could help me figure out how to get php compiled and running, I would greatly appreciate it... For that matter, if anybody knows a better hosting provider let me know. If I wasnt so damned strapped for cash I'd just go DSL with my linux box and apache server... OK, I'm done venting... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Hilton" <msh...@ya...> To: "Aric Caley" <php...@pe...>; "Joe Stewart" <jo...@be...> Cc: <php...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, June 12, 2001 7:10 PM Subject: Re: [phpslash-users] documentation... > Which hosting service do you use, if I might ask? > > --- Aric Caley <php...@pe...> wrote: > > They got an older PHP... 4.0b.
