Hi Joe,

This is a big brain burp on my part...the TZ block of config.php3 is not 
used for anything!  I later replaced it with the [timezone] block below it 
and forgot to delete. 

Here are the settings I have in config.php3 right now.

$_PSL['timezone']['engine'] = true;
$_PSL['timezone']['native'] = true;
$_PSL['timezone']['dir'] = '/usr/share/zoneinfo';
$_PSL['timezone']['default'] = ':/etc/localtime';
$_PSL['timezone']['name'] = 'Europe/Oslo';

Before the stuff is ready to merge in, I think there are some design
issues.  Right now, there isn't much difference between i18n and
customization of date formats.  The formats are in
$_PSL['classdir']/locale/<languagecode>.LC_TIME.php.  You set the locales
in config.php3, and you get that locale's date formats.  If you want to
change them, you have to create your own custom.LC_TIME.php and set
$_PSL['locale']['LC_TIME'] = 'custom'.  Does that seem convoluted to you?  

Also, the way it's implemented, you get funny results if a requested date
format is not specified in your language file.  That should probably be 
fixed to fall back to en_US or something.  

Anyway, hope that you can get it up and running and let me know.
