ok well if want you want is application like icon there are collections of windows icons i can t use. :) well without htaccess i think you are left with cookies and sessions. sessions of course the better choice. i am not the expert in this area. so security issues of using a form i am not sure tho i thought i heard soemwhere if you submit the form to itself it is better. OK, now that my focus is going to be on the administration end of the project.. I thought that I should ask anyone if they've had experience with user/password protection of the site. I want to refrain from using 'cookies' if at all possible. Anyone have any insight on how to do some good user level checking that we could implement across all our pages? ..perhaps I should seek someone who is good with this to help the project if none of us know this aspect very well. I for one..am not too familiar with this.. -R0bby |

Whew... been a long time. Um... I thought I should let you all know whats going on with the project... the list has been... well... dead for over a month easy now. Anyhoo. I have been really busy with my dayjob and social life has taken away from extra time for sideprojects. I really want to get back to work on this project. Are you all stil with me? Obviously we have too many people on the project... and although I'd love for you all to help, I'm going to have a final role call. If you're still interested, please respond to me personally. I'm going to remove anyone who doesn't respond to me by this Wed. If you get this email after and still want to be a part of the project, please let me know when you can. I just want to clear up any loose ends... and if you're all still interested, please let me know. I want to get a good sense as to how many people are going to help out. right now we have many people... but not many people participating in the discussions or replying to posts. Hope you can all stay... and work on this with us. :-) robby |

I tried this earlier, but I don't think my email went through so here it is again in case. I will work on coding the admin section as discussed earlier. I have an ASP links page that is similar to what is wanted for a links page I believe. Also, a friend of my has a PHP links page like mine that I can use the code from. My page is at www.hand-systems.com (goto links) and my friends page is at www.x-net.com (goto development links). Also, welcome Cat... I'm Bryan and I am an Applications Developer... just trying to learn something new. jbhand |

AS requested,,, Catherine wanted to get some links for easy access.. anyone have anything else to add? StopOut, do you have the links for your designs? I'd like to move those over to our cvs.. LINKS: <archived messages> http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/SourceForge/15573/0/ <summary site> http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpsitemadeeasy/ you should have access to the admin link... you can assign tasks and stuff there as well.. i'd wander around our summary site. This keeps track of everything we do. all emails, tasks, news, file changes, etc are all tracked by sourceforge. <our homepage> http://phpsitemadeeasy.sourceforge.net/ <current proposed layouts that our designers have created.> http://phpsitemadeeasy.sourceforge.net/layouts/ <our developer email address> Php...@li... similar projects... which we plan to emulate and make easier to set up and maintain. http://www.phpnuke.org http://www.postnuke.org http://www.phpweblog.org |

Hello, I would like to introduce Catherine to the project. She has some free to offer to helping our little project. She's not too familiar with the 'open source' community, so lets show her how kickass it really is. :-) She will be working on managing our workflow, assigning tasks (and following up with existing tasks), keeping us all motivated ( i know this is all just a hobby to us... so no pressure), and hopefully keep us on track. The past 2months have been... a tad 'slow' and unproductive. The holiday season will do that to you. So, once again, I'd like to welcome Catherine. She's a smart and creative girl. If you could just welcome her, and state your brief description of who you are, where you're from, and what you can do and will be doing for the project. This way she can get a little glimse of what we can all do, and how we can all work together with our combined skill set. thanks! -robby http://phpsitemadeeasy.sourceforge.net |

Ok, I decided that I am going to get someone who would like to manage this project. I don't feel that I am the best person for the job at the moment, and would like to focus on development rather then keeping all this organized. My friend has volunteered, she has no programming experience, which might be a good thing. We could use a average web user type person to keep us organized and make sense to the outside world. She can work on the documentation as well. I'll introduce her to you all when she gets all set up with the mailing list. -Robby |

Hello Everyone, sorry for the delay... Here are some tasks that need to be worked on and.or finished. ------------- Gerald (are you still here?) A few months ago, I added the news table for you in the sql. # news table CREATE TABLE psme_news ( id INT(5) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, title VARCHAR(90), text VARCHAR(255), author VARCHAR(64), date TIMESTAMP(14) NOT NULL, onpage INT(1)DEFAULT '1' NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id)); Did you still want to work on this piece? If not, I;m open for volunteers. Basically this will be the primary website news table and functions that run it. We will also need a comments table and set of functions to go along with that... --------------- Administration Page, I've had some offers for help with the design... but not so much with the coding behind the site. Anyone here familiar with user/password programming. If someone could come up with a user/right/password error check that we could use on all our pages for security, that would be a good thing to start working on. Another task would be to come up with a clean easy wizard like-design for the admin site ----------- Need someone to create a page that will retrieve the link categories and sort them. Then when a user clicks on the category, it will load all the links that belong to that category. Shouldn't be too difficult to set up. ---------- people to offer new ideas and insights... please speak up and offer your guidance. -robby |

what O/S are you set up with? windows has winCVS which you need to install i believe python on your = windows machine to make it work... linux, i use plain ole command line cvs because i found it to be = easiest... i've tried a gui cvs program using tcl but it wasn't easy to = figure out. the thing about the linux/unix cvs program is that you need to add some = variables to your shell. $CVSHOME i believe and i forget the other one sourceforge has a little demo for it... with generic command lines to = copy basically this is the procedure (after you get cvs/wincvs set up) First Off: the files are all stored on a cvs server. Now you want to 'checkout' the latest version of the package so you = would use the command to 'checkout' phpSiteMadeEasy this will create a directory structure within your $CVSHOME path (which = you set before hand) now that you have a fresh copy of the latest and greatest version of = phpSiteMadeEasy you can begin editing files with your favorite editor. you can also add files to the directory... when you are happy with your work you can then 'commit' that particular = file that you worked on and it asks you to type a message to tell the = server what changes were made and why.=20 when you are finished, you can then 'release' the files. you basically repeat this process everytime you want to sit down and = work on the project. sourceforge has some actual command lines for this. wincvs is fairly easy to figure out, but since i am a linux junkie i'm = stuck with good ole command line... which i prefer anyways. ok, good luck -r0bby ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Marcos Rodriguez=20 To: php...@li...=20 Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2001 1:36 AM Subject: [Phpsitemadeeasy-devel] Re: PhpSiteMadeEasy-Devel digest, Vol = 1 #27 - 5 msgs I havent't set up cvs yet.
