ok well if want you want is application like icon there are collections of windows icons i can t use. :) well without htaccess i think you are left with cookies and sessions. sessions of course the better choice. i am not the expert in this area. so security issues of using a form i am not sure tho i thought i heard soemwhere if you submit the form to itself it is better.
